New 50 yard-line logo??

Since we're getting the new turf, I thought I would see what you all think of my idea of this logo going on the 50 of the new FFD turf.

This is something I just whipped together in a few minutes on Photoshop, and I really liked it, hence my avatar.

Reminds me too much of the old logo at the BSA. The shape of north Dakota is boring, looks too much like a boring rectangle. I would like to see the same logo that is on half court at the BSA now be on midfield at the dome. Then put Missouri valley logos on the 20's. And have NO fargodome logo anywhere. I mean I am in the fargodome, I am pretty sure I know about it and don't need to be advertised about it. All that being said, the logo is pretty sweet, just not sure it is turf worthy in my opinion.

You have a good point about a white border instead of black to make it stand out on the field. Maybe a white border surrounding the black??

A full bison head inside the ND shape would lose all of its dynamic qualities, plus there would be a lot of wasted space inside the shape.

I understand completely what you're getting at.

It would take me more time that I don't want to waste, but I could totally do it. It all has to do with creating another layer, greyscaling it, and reducing the opacity.

I want this not just painted in the turf but rather the actual turf color and scaled from endzone to endzone. If those jack asses in Cheney can have red turf why can't we have a kick ass logo field?!?

I would get rid of the black and replace it with the dark green that makes up the outline of the Bison head. Makes it flow a bit better and you reduce the color scheme down to 4 colors (yellow, white, dark green, lighter green.) It just looks odd right now when you throw in that black for no reason.

I love the Jackrabbit at midfield, but it's to small, IMO. I think its needs to be twice as big. So, when you guys do get something....make sure it's big enough.

No, it is really does an excellent job of establishing their original marketing message and brand. Think back to the original Apple vision and products. That is rock solid in telling their market segment what they had and where they intended to play. Of course, their message changed when they busted out with their Super Bowl commercial in 1984. It took them a while after that 'message' to get their vision realligned with their customers. Some would say it took the iPhone to get them back in business. Right CAS?

Well, I actually do have a graduate degree in business and my graduate assistantship was in marketing. The Snorty logo would make a lot of sense because of the historical significance of it and the significance it would have to the alumni.....some of which could be potential large donors. The history and tradition of this program reach out to many of the alumni that could be in a position to donate more money to the program. History at the 50 yard line and modern logos in the endzones and elsewhere. Also, the idea of MVFC logo is also a good one. We are in a power conference and we should brag it up.

As for the old Apple logo.....WTF does that have to do with this discussion?

Almost impossible to find images of the original Snorty any more. Also Scheels and NDSU shop had a bunch of merchandise with the old logo a while ago but not any more. A guy that works at Scheels said it's harder to get stuff with the old logo and when they do it flies off the shelves.

I would like to see current Nike unis with the 1986 uni design on them for a special game, then maybe auction them off, or something. (Anyone who thinks we should run out of the tunnel with actual 1986-era unis and equipment is not really technically living in this century.)

The snorty on the current football helmet is different than anything else and is not used anywhere else (in my opinion not good for a mid field logo, but would be my second choice over others discussed here).

Also, there is the swoosh logo with Bison head and shoulders transitioning into a swoosh with NDSU letters (to me this would look best at mid field). In addition, I would like to see this logo or something similar someday tried on the helmet.

Then there is the new bison head only logo, aka Elmer Glue guy (this would look OK in corners of endzones). Really don't care for this logo except in places where a small logo is good (shirts, articles, letters, etc.).

Finally the old snorty....great logo (good for throwback stuff, but not for new turf marking, etc.) It had its place and time.

Well, I was bitching about the turf since the FargoDome opened. I still can't believe that they put secondhand outdoor turf with the old set of lines still visible on it in a brand new facility.

With the turf that's thankfully about to go, the city of Fargo SPENT MONEY to make it ugly - for no earthly purpose. That ticked me off too.

I would vote for the new logo. When it first came out, i didn't like it at all. But over time it has grew on me. The helmet logo should stay and NEVER change. I don't think that would look right on the 50 yd line however. I love the "old snorty" logo, but it is just a classic and belongs on flags/banners/clothes, not the NEW turf. I'm all for having throw back jerseys on rare occasssions, but just not on infrastructure.

The new logo is a part of our new D1 brand and it is a part of our new image. Having an old logo on a brand new field will contradict the message of building for the future.
