I'm sure a few of you saw this on the NDSU FB page, but Roers Construction has donated a bronze Bison statue to the University for display! It'll be around the Fargodome on Saturday and then will find a permanent home on campus. They're taking suggestions on where to put it, so chime in!

I think this is freaking awesome, we need more stuff like this around campus. Love it, and thank you to Roers Construction for the donation!

Putting it outside the shac would be best, as long as it's facing south so the business end can point to the university that can kiss it.

I can't see the tail from that angle.. is it perhaps in the air?

This thing is cool as hell, and I hope it goes up by the bison rock fountain or the BSA when the remodel is done.

Yes I am pretty sure this is the one....it was listed as sold when we stopped in the last weekend of their closing sale. I was hoping it would end up with NDSU :)

Putting it outside of the SHAC may be in poor taste since the species will likely be extinct by then. Along with real boobs, Answer Guy's circle of friends, Bison Babe's paper route, and the Geico Gecko.

This ends for me when Babette gets her drivers license.....but sound like it may last a bit longer due to new restrictions on the new young drivers.

Outside the main entry to the SHAC would be the best place to put it. There's already one in the East entryway to the FargoDome.

Guessing that that statue cost a bit less than a dorm....

Besides, after all the apartments and such built lately, are we still short of dorm space? Any temp housing this fall?

As NDSU alum, a couple of us did ask about the cost about a month ago, just to see. At that time, Wholesale Sports was asking $25,000. Needless to say, we passed.

If I remember correctly the last price I saw before it sold was around 15K but I could be wrong.

Only $15,000??? Man, we should have jumped at that opportunity. It would have looked great surrounded by native grasses in a flower bed we have on the farm. :)

If NDSU is going to ever grow beyond 11,000 undergrads we are way short on housing. I personally would like to see around 16000 undergrads before 2040... Thats gonna require alot more housing.

At the moment, there isn't a shortage of housing on campus, it's a little tight but it's better now that the new campus apartments opened up.

There's a Loooong wait list for the Niskanen apartments.
More AFFORDABLE housing is needed around campus. The T-lofts are nice if you're will to give up an arm & a leg to get a place there. On campus apartments are around the same price as the dorms if I remember right.

I agree. Either outside the shac or on 19th Ave before you turn into the dome parking but I don't think we own that property

I think that statute belongs where the most students, staff, faculty, and visitors will see that on a daily basis, it should go outside of the south entrance to the union. Why should that statute be around the athletes only?

I think it needs to go places that don't have as much Bison pride. 19th Ave by the dome doesn't have a true Bison home feel to it, except on game day. I think it would look cool for 1st time visitors driving down 19th Ave or University to see a cool looking statue because the outside of the dome doesn't have any Bison spirit... except on game day.

I think it was for the USD game.

Anyway, this outrage over a bet 5 days ago is coming from someone who took over 5 months to pay off their previous losses?

BS--you know it was the Cal Poly game--nice try.

Ya, it took me 5 months because the bet was a $20 bar tab and I thankfully did not see your ugly mug in person that much during the 5 month period. Also, I overpaid the $20 IMO, cuz I had to sit next to you when you drank it up!!

See you in the west lot Saturday . . . . . . . . ?

Can't help but be a fan of this. Integrating the academic area of campus with the idea of "Bison Pride" takes it beyond simply admiring NDSU athletics - it demonstrates that NDSU is one institution with one fanbase, not sports vs. academics like people almost make it out to be nowadays. Even if you're not a sports fan, you're a Bison. Dig it.

I would love to see a herd of these outside of the Dome!

2-3 along 19th Ave N
2-3 along N University
1 on the corner of 17th and Albrect
1 in front of the SHAC
1 in front of the east side dome entrance
1 on the west side dome entrance
2 at the tailgating entrance
1 in front of Newman Outdoor Field

11 at a cost of 10-15k each. Minimum cost 110k but damn that would look bad ass! Details like that impress!

Some day when I can afford it I will donate some Bison statues.

I emailed the maker and here is the response... The buffalo on the rock weighs 350 lbs. The correct height is 74" to the top of the shoulders, It is 67" long and 32" wide Thanks again for your interest. They are made from 100% recycled aluminum, so they are environmentally green. It is very impressive and comes in the bronze finish.

Heres the best one. Its 6' 1" tall so the picture doesn't do justice to its size. Problem is at 350 lbs it would either need to be anchored in concrete outdoors or placed indoors. 2900 bucks with free shipping. If I were to buy one does it look cool and where could it go?
