Keep in mind that by the time I realized I'd left out UNH, it was too late to ask the mods to nix my poll and re-submit. So put UNH somewhere in the 13-15 range and remove SDSU.

I just dont feel we are a top 5-6 team yet.......key is YET. If the passing game is improved we will be. I firmly believe our D is top 5 in the country right now but our offense is maybe top 25 overall, but if DJ and Sam get rolling along with some passing LOOK THE F OUT!!!!!!

I voted mostly based on having to notch App. St., Delaware, and W&M down after some truly embarrassing defeats to FBS schools. Granted, VTech is going to be an ACC contender this year, but for ASU to allow 66 points to anybody is just messed up. I had us at 8 to start the season so 6 didn't seem too far a stretch.

My preseason poll had NDSU at 10, but the way that teams like Appy, William & Mary, etc lost (and Wofford only beat a terrible Presby team by 7), I just adjusted accordingly. I think after about Week 4 or 5 I'll have a better feel for everything.

if you take the 72 accident points UND has and gave them to us, where they rightfully belong, we would be tied for 4th with W&M.

AGS has a few UND/BSC yahoos that vote that I'm sure figured a 16-point shutout of a Pioneer team was worth a top-20 ranking. Give it a few weeks and they'll trickle out.

I still dont believe SFA deserves a top 25 rank.

They are in my top 5. :hide: But it has nothing to do with the win against the D3 school.

Even with Moses gone, I think they will be a lock or at least a near lock for the Southland title every year. Their gonna chuck it 30-40+ times a game, and I really think they have a chance to knock off UNI, and finish season with only 1 loss to Baylor. However, I really find their program and coach's ethics disgusting and hope the Panthers knock the crap out of them.

For those who aren't in the know, enjoy this little clip from their game last season against Texas A&M.

Long story short, they faked injuries so the team could get a breather while they were getting whalloped by a better team.

One more comment, I think that those of you who think we don't deserve a #6 ranking have been sandbagging the Red for far too many years. Aside from WR, the kind of depth that the Bison have this year is a rarity in FCS football.

Rankings dont mean squat at this point. If we go 4-4 in the Valley again this year we could be at home watching the playoffs! Lets earn our ranking! Talk to me about how good we are after we beat UNI!

Ralph is no longer there. Ursus and Cleets purchased and run the site now. I still prefer CS overall, but I've met Ursus in person and he's a good dude and they're trying to make the site back to what it used to be. I'd actually encourage Bison fans to partake, particularly at CS because it's being overrun by JBB (and to a lesser extent lakes) and they need to have discussions with the normal cats that post here. Note that you will get a lot of crap right away, but they really are a good bunch of dudes, and the NDSU fan base needs some good representation over there, besides the occasional appearance by Gil and a few others.

One of the more completely insane submissions from this week:

1: Eastern Washington Eagles: I don't vote the previous champ #1 just because they won, but when you pair that with a performance and near win vs. an in-state FBS rival, EWU gets my vote.

2: Sacramento State Hornets: If I based my vote on the previous year, this vote would never happen, but for Sac State to go on the road to a BCS squads stadium and win is impressive. After one week, it's fair to say they are a Top 5 team. The test is to say if they can continue.

3: Richmond Spiders: BCS win on the road (I know it was Duke) added to Richmond's track record puts them right behind Sac State

4: Weber State Wildcats: This vote might be a little high. Not sure how much almost winning at Wyoming REALLY means, but I don't have many arguments to place anyone higher after week one.

5: Montana State Bobcats: The Bobcats had some high expectations and had a decent game against a good FBS squad. Hard to say.

6: Georgia Southern Eagles: GSU's win over Samford was hard to gauge. Could see arguements to be a little higher or lower.

7: North Dakota State Bison: NDSU smoked Lafayette and it's hard to place them any lower.

8: Northern Iowa Panthers: UNI had a good game against a BCS in-state rival. I've seen them higher and lower in polls.

9: South Dakota State Jackrabbits: SDSU may be a little high in some people's eyes. I've been impressed with the direction of the programs in Brookings and Cedar City, so the Jacks ended up here for week one.

10: Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks: What does running up the score on a sub D-I team tell you? SFA gets placed here for now.

11: Montana Grizzlies: I saw the Griz in person this weekend and I thought the game was closer than the score showed. I was impressed with the lines on both side of the ball. A few betters decisions here and there and it may have been a different game.

12: Coastal Carolina Chanticleers: Might be a little high in retrospect. Like I said, hard to place teams when some played FCS and some played FBS. Need to see more from CCU and Furman to place them more accurately.

13: McNeese State Cowboys: Good showing vs. Kansas. Hard to say what that means. At least they hung in.

14: Appalachian State Mountaineers: I don't want to assume too much from the game vs. VA Tech, but what I did see was not what I have come to expect from Jerry. This seemed like a fair placement.

15: Central Arkansas Bears: Off the top of my head I can't even remember who they played. Wouldn't argue this too strongly one way or another. The bottom of the poll is even more of a guess than the top.

16: Southern Utah Thunderbirds: I personally expect to see good things from SUU and SDSU. SUU fought tough on the road, and just because they lost doesn't mean they aren't one of the Top 25 teams in FCS.

17: Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens: I thought the game with Navy might be a little closer.

18: Jacksonville State Gamecocks: I don't have much to say about this one.

19: Lehigh Mountain Hawks: Lehigh won a game they should win. We'll see a lot more this week.

20: Stony Brook Seawolves: Hung in on the road at UTEP.

21: New Hampshire Wildcats: UNH might be a little low. I saw a lot of good from them. Similar to Montana. Their game with Toledo was much closer than the score. Toledo looks to be that one MAC team that is really good every now and then.

22: Maine Black Bears: Won a game they should win.

23: Elon Phoenix: Could argue this one. Good performance vs Vandy though.

24: Southeastern Louisiana Lions: Good game with Tulane. Not sure what to make of that.

25: Villanova Wildcats: Not sure if they even belong in the poll. But that can be said for a lot of these teams.

wierd because ags is probably the most favorable poll to ndsu

AGS has new management starting last season. The AGS votes are not rejected if they are reasonable and do not include homer votes, like 8 teams from the MVFC or teams that have 1-4 records in the top 10. It's mostly common sense if a person is serious about their vote and take the bias out. cs.com is very anti-Bison due to JBB, it was fun to watch the Bison bashers eat crow last season.

But the absents of sanity on that site occurs at a very high rate, bison fans not excluded. To me, the poll is pretty meh and for my own sanity I don't take it seriously after seeing things that some of the posters say.

Case in point, I'm pretty sure screamingeagle is allowed a vote.

I doubt screamingeagle was ever sober or sane enough to put a poll together. ;)

I did move Montana down with the coach and possibly the QB gone from last year with the rape allegations.

I intend to do the same thing in the second preseaon poll. Montana was my biggest loss team.

In the past another preseason poll is done like 2 weeks before the season starts.

The only thing ags accomplishes is pissing off bison fans lol

Pretty sure you mean CS. CS isa replica of AGS from several years ago. AGS is a perfectly fine place to read about the whole subdivision.
