If you swing by Dacotah Field in the afternoon this fall, odds are you'll see the NDSU football team running through exercises, drills, and repetitions as they prepare for their next opponent. Players pick themselves up off the field after a hit or block, whistles and buzzers abound to signify the progression of practice segments, and Coach Polasek's fishing hat will likely make an appearance as he jogs to a running back or tight end.
What you're likely to see just as well this season is a senior player offering guidance to a younger athlete, helping to leave their mark on the program in their final year of eligibility. One of those seniors is safety Daniel Eaves, whose role last year was a pivotal one on the defense, and whose absence from the national preseason stage has been, at best, quizzical.
