Looks like a Hotel+Car+Direct Flight package from MSP to STL is under $450 for a 2 person package.

Anyone else planning on attending this game? Never been to St Louis, so we will be staying there and doing a little site seeing.

Any tips? Annheiser busch wont workout unfortunately. Any tips for tix? Buy them the day they go on sale? Or is it ok to wait?

Best area in St. Louis is downtown/waterfront. Pretty much everything is close by.....Brewery, Cardinals Stadium, riverboat tours, the Arch, Ed Jones Dome and lots of little hole in the wall bars/restauraunts. The general area is called Laclede's Landing. DO NOT MISS THE LAST EXIT IN MO!!! I went too far and crossed over to IL and it's not pretty.

How far of a drive is that? I drove through a couple of times but don't remember times because I was heading to some place more interesting lol

I'd suggest staying in St. Louis and taking a taxi to East St. Louis. Lots of "sights" to see there. Don't go anywhere from the "bars" except straight into a car/cab if you value your life.

LOL, my dad took a wrong exit and ended up there in the 70s.

driving straight through to st Charles (nw suburb) can be accomplished in 11 hours. More rational estimate with road construction and iowegians on the road is 12.5 or 13 hours.

KSBisonFan has a good start--Laclede's Landing/Downtown is pretty cool. And relatively safe.

If you're into Italian food, The Hill (a neighborhood on the south side, http://www.thehillstl.com/index.html) has some pretty stellar eating establishments, all price ranges. Warning though, after eating there, you'll see Olive Garden for what it is: the Taco Bell of Italian food.

The brewery (http://www.budweisertours.com/toursSTL.htm) is a great place to spend a couple of hours. The tour (whether you are of age or not) is fantastic and well-run. And free, as are the samples at the end... They give tours every day, but have cut down on the hours ever since the waffle-humpers bought them. If you go to the brewery, be sure to go across the street to Gus' Pretzels http://www.guspretzels.com/. You'll be happy you did.

Ted Drewes Frozen Custard http://www.teddrewes.com/sitecontent/dynamiccontent.aspx?pid=92&uid=1FA7B06F-39EC-4A8E-8A31-23EE0B783705 is a great place for, well, frozen custard. It's on old Route 66... expect a line if you go at night. Or if it's hot out.

The Loop http://visittheloop.com/ is another shopping/dining district that might be worth a look if you get sick of the Landing. Or if you bring the wife along.

If you're bringing the family, the zoo is world class and free. The art museum is better than average, and free. The museum under the Arch is free, although it costs to ride to the top.

We probably wont hit the bars. Except maybe the one in the hotel, or maybe one in carbondale. We were going to go on the annheiser tour but i dont think its gonna work out.

With a trip this short and the first time being in a new city with sites, we tend to sight see till were about to passout.

Actually happened to a buddy of mine when he was at one of the "establishments" in Sauget. Came out after a night of quality entertainment to find his tires suddenly looked more like cinder blocks.

So, if in East St. Louis and if one were to ask for directions, would it help to ask for the nearest Baptist Church?

In East St. Louis?

Road, stay away from the other side of the river or it will be STREAK OVER!!

Back on topic, no one has yet mentioned Union Station. It's an old railroad depot that has been transformed into a touristy mall. It's definitely worth seeing.

Check out this website- http://www.stlouisunionstation.com

i deliberately left that off the list... Architecturally its pretty neat, but unless something drastic has happened in a good way over the past year its really gotten to be somewhat meh.

All great suggestions. I concur on the zoo and art museum as well as several other sites in Forest Park. Another great place for the kids is the City Museum. It's basically a large jungle gym for the kids made with donated scraps including a fire truck a couple airplanes. My boys love it!!

Don't miss tailgating before the game. They had a pretty good setup.

I suggest you fellas come here first.
We can have a "Hang out with Sh!thead, the Sequel"
It's only 200 miles further than a St. Louis drive to Carbonfootprintdale.
I've already researched a local 44 person party bus complete with a full bar AND a stripper pole!:praying: :praying:
