Wasn't sure if a "GDT" was appropriate for golf, but wtf...

Amy opened with a par, which considering the circumstances is pretty good IMO.

I'm hoping she can keep her head on straight, that's always seemed like one of her strong points. Sounds like the course is pretty challenging...

Four holes, 4 pars. I hope she can keep it up, there are a few high scores out there already. For example, Sandra Gal (whose pic I posted in the "Bikini" thread) is already +5 after only 8 holes. I guess she's playing worse than she looks today...

Saul has Andy North (BIGTIME BISON FAN) who is covering the event for ESPN well aware that there is a BISON in the lead of the biggest event in the world in Women's Golf. I would expect him to do some special coverage.

Could not happen to a nicer young girl. She is a class act and someone that young girls really look up to. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Wow! Absolutely amazing! Went to the golf course and the guys in the clubhouse were following the tourney online. When I asked them how Amy was doing and they said she was -2 and in the lead, I couldn't believe it. It's one thing to be on the top of the leaderboard at the ncaa's; but to be sharing the lead at th us open with the worlds best is again simply amazing. Interview was great. She has it put together I would say. Keep it up Amy and represent NDSU and North Dakota well. Make the cut and make some noise on the weekend.

This is just crazy. I didnt know she was only 18 and a sophomore too! WOW congrats to her no matter what the outcome is. I would have never guessed in a million years that someone from North Dakota and NDSU would lead the LPGA while still living in ND. Just goes to show how great she is overcoming our non golf climate.

An excerpt from an article in the Washington Post:
Even Anderson, the second-team All-American, was stunned by the day’s developments. Walking up to the seventh hole, she glanced at the leaderboard, seeing her name at the top.
She wished she would’ve had a camera.
“That was surreal,” said Anderson, whose brother, Nathan, serves as her caddy. “My brother and I joked, ‘Somebody better get a picture of that. It’s not gonna be up there for very long.’”

She was a morning start on day 1, so she will be an afternoon start on day 2, which means she will go probably about 8pm tonight, or likely tomorrow. the afternoon starts from yesterday that are on the course now, will turn around and go right back on the course, probably around the 3-4 time you mentioned. All dependent on the weather though. I'm guessing there will be a weather delay today, and could easily be one tomorrow and sunday too with our weather out here right now.

She's back in the co-lead for the moment, and most of the field is wrapping up their last few holes(none has more than 4). I would be surprised if the first round ends with Amy more than 2 strokes off the lead. I wouldn't be surprised if she was in a seven or more way tie for first.

Unfortunately she won't be in or tied for the lead after round 1. she will be at least one back, and has a 9:01pm tee time. Not much light at that time to get started into her round.

I went out and played a quick 9 on my local par-3 course and am just catching up. My daughter and I are planning on heading down tomorrow with a couple friends.

Anyone else from Colorado going tomorrow? I have a brand-new Bison driver headcover I may take down and see if my daughter can get her to sign it...

Amy parred hole 1, double bogeyed 2, but it looks like she's going to birdie 3 after a great 3rd stroke on a par 5.

Yes, Amy did birdie #3. Also, TV coverage showed her nice 3rd shot to #3 green right before TV coverage finished for the day. Amy is now 5 over par for the tournament. According to the scoreboard play is now suspended. I assume another round of thunderstorms rolling in.

It looked to me like Amy was struggling a bit today. I havent seen her play before, but she didnt look completely on. She was hitting irons a little long today and caught a couple bad breaks. She fought hard though and had a good group following her all day. Her double bogey on #2 was a bit of bad luck, she rolled over the green up against the collar of the rough and ended up 3 putting. Still a good showing and she is doing well. Lots of rain down here - likely not going to get out to play again for very long, if at all, again tonight. This will likely go into Monday.

On the bright side she is just 2 strokes behind Michelle Wie.

She made the cut at the US Open - she definitely has a lot to be proud of.

When live coverage came on tonight (NBC) she almost made a hole in one on camera. Johnny Miller raved about her game. They showed the shot twice and said what a great week she has had. Talked about her being from Oxbow, ND just 10 miles south of Fargo. Really a nice close to a great week from her. Congrats to Amy!

Amy Just finished +17, she improved on that last round by about 4 strokes.

Good for her. Good luck in the future.

We just got back to Denver from Colo Springs; Amy really struggled on the greens today. We saw her play 13-18 from the third round, and 1-14 on her final round. We met her parents, cousins, and coach at NDSU; everyone was really nice. I mentioned to her cousin that her putting stroke looked really tentative on the first hole we saw; he told us that she'd three-putted the previous hole from about 3 feet. That'll shake your confidence for sure. On the last round she couldn't seem to get a break; she missed four or five putts that could have just as easily gone in (including one lip-out that went all the way around and came back towards her). She pulled it together towards the end and made some nice pars and a birdie or two.

I'm sure she was disappointed, but it was a pretty good accomplishment just being there on Sunday -- congrats, Amy!

After this weekend I would have to say she has got to be the 2nd most accomplished golfer in the history of Oxbow. Obviously our very own Mr. Burgundy holds the #1 spot! :D ;)

Congratulations to this young lady. She represented herself, her state, and her school admirably on a national platform. Pretty damn awesome if you ask me.

She stated that her goal for the weekend was to make the cut, which is what she did. However, I can only guess that after her great first round that she was maybe a little disappointed in her play over the last few rounds. Still I hope she eventually sees that she played a magnificant tourament for the biggest golf event (to date) in her lifetime.

WDAY TV sent a crew down to Colorado Springs, and they interview both amy and her brother last night on the sports. Amy said exactly that he early goal was just to make the cut but after her first round score she wished she had done better. Great Job for WDAY sending someone down to COS.

I don't think Burgundy wants any part of Amy in a competetive round of golf!!!

She represented not only herself well but also the state of ND and NDSU. I was surprised the amount of poise she displayed during the interview process. Well done.

I did have to always laugh at the commentators and writers who tried to play up the whole 300-person ND town stereotype on the air, while everyone from the Fargo area knows that Oxbow is just a golf course surrounded by some better-than-average homes and a liquor store about five minutes from Fargo. Hell, I bet Amy's family has a shorter commute to a Walmart than 75% of the US population.

Suggest that if you live in the area or out of the area to watch the replay of the 10 PM sports on WDAY. Part of Amy Anderson press conferences and she says that even thought the heard it from everyone to go play at at southern school or turn pro she will stick to her plan and stay at NDSU for 2 years.

Did anyone else just heard the other Summit League golf teams groan...

www.wday.com is where they will post the 10 pm news weather and sports.

During an interview after the first day, she said she intends to finish her 4-year, get a masters, pass her CPA, and only then consider going pro. She sounded pretty adamant about it. The interview segment is about 3/4 way through bri-dog's first video.

Honestly its weird. I would of rented a limo and some guns to celebrate. I mean whats the point of being a professional athlete if you can't go nuts every couple days.

Yeah, my neice is an 8th grader(made all-conference) and loves golf. Her goal is to get a DI scholarship and she hopes to play at NDSU. Would love to see her meet Amy sometime.

Stopped by Scheels today with my 2 and 4 year old boys and got some golf balls and a cap autographed and visited with Amy and Lynn Dorn for a few minutes. You all realize this already, but, I can't stress this enough...Amy is such an outstanding representative for our school...extremely talented on the course and even more impressive off the course interacting with young and old fans alike. Those things coupled with an impressive academic record, wow...she's just an amazing young woman who makes me very proud to be an NDSU alum and to support Bison athletics.
