The question mark is only because NDSU and UND get mixed up so much, but I think they tend to get it right in Manitoba.

Melissa broke two 33-year-old conference records (400 and 200.) She ran the 400 in 57 seconds and the 200 under 25 seconds. Considering how crappy the Winnipeg track season must be, that's pretty amazing.

Edit: It was two records.

Amazing - according to UND fans they get all the Manitoba athletes. With their stellar T&F program - I guess they forgot to tell her about the BSC!

This quote from her should clear up who she is talking about as we all no it is not true of the school to the north. I have heard quite a few things but good is not something I have heard attached to their track program.:) :) :) :)

"They have really good programs in both athletics and academics and that was a deciding factor.”

The couple times ive gone to winnipeg people seem to have a great understanding of the difference between UND and NDSU or have no knowledge that either exist. Which is quite similar to parts of western North Dakota.

Last time I was there, it was during our basketball game against KU. Alot of good lucks from canadians, they were pretty aware if you ask me. Our lack of recruiting from winnipeg has always puzzled me. Its a pretty damn big city (population is the same as our entire state and its the same distance from fargo as minneapolis..), and all we would have to compete against would probably be UND. Are there seriously no football/basketball etc recruits in manitoba?

I think the academic standards are somewhat of a hurdle when bringing in Canadian kids. but i could be wrong

Our academic standards or NCAA? Cause canadian kids play for D1 teams all over the country. One that comes straight to mind is SUU, i believe they had 2 or 3 australians and a kid from vancouver.

Kai williams was from canada. Im not advocating a team completely built up of canadians...but there has to be some talent in a city of 600,000 where we would probably have the #1 pick.

There are 105 Div 1 Lacrosse players from canada.

Indiana state has a TE from moosejaw saskatewan. http://www.canadafootballchat.com/news/wide-tables/345-canadians-us-college-football.html

Sorry, hate to see this turn into a UND v NDSU thing. When I originally posted this, I put a "?" in the title because I hadn't see anything from NDSU about her commitment and, as we all know, some papers get NDSU and UND confused. However, as I read more, it seemed more and more like good info. Also, I've never seen the Winnipeg Free Press mix up NDSU and UND.

So, anyway, I removed the "?" but forgot to remove the line about NDSU and UND getting mixed up.

But you have to remember that to UND fans only Hockey players are athletes so therefore all Manitoba Hockey players go there. That ok with
me.

I believe its just alot more difficult to verify the records and meet the standards of the clearing house with an international athlete. Wasn't implying anything

Lisa Kresky and Jane Loskot were from Canada and they were two of the Bison's greatest track athletes. Welcome Melissa!

The soccer team knows where Canada is. They have a nice core from north or the border.
