Eric Stroh is into the NCAA West quarterfinals... he ran a blistering 1:48.73. The 800 quarterfinals are at 7:05pm central.

800 meter times below 1:50 kind of boggle my mind.

Bah, big jam in the 800 and Stroh took a fall - what a crappy thing to happen after peaking just right.

History repeats itself.

1:47.8

Not only a new personal best for Stroh, but a new school record for NDSU.

I'm a little confused on how these qualifying rounds work. Does this help him get to Des Moines?

No, Eric was unable to qualify in the preliminary round. There are no qualifying standards anymore. It's all based on place.

Well that blows. He would have had the 11th best time?

It might not get him to the NCAAs but it could get him to the US Championships.

What is the deal here? He just missed the A standard of 1:47.5 and has a "pending" status according to the website. The meet starts in two days?

If you took the time to read the definitions it would tell you what it means.

pending - athlete has declared his/her intent to compete, but entry is in provisional status, has an updated mark that must be verified, or requires additional information
