This is very impressive!! A friggin well oiled machine. Our track & field program has to be getting close to making some noise nationally, teamwise.

I would use the word comeback lightly... The event was organized with running events last, which is what NDSU dominates more than anything else.

I would agree with this statement. Everything went according to plan even though the Jacks had some unexpected performances that made things interesting.

I was doing some research to see how both squad would've done if they were in the Pac-10. Based on times and distances, both the women and men would've placed last with 10.6 and 8 pts respectively.

Antoinette Goodman's 11.76 in the 100m would've been good enough for 9th place. The winner ran an insane 11.03, which would've placed 7th in the men's Summit field.

Whitney Carlson's 13.63 in the 100m hurdles would've placed her 8th The winner ran a 12.77. Her Heptathlon score would've placed 4th

Both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays would've placed 8th

Both of Mark Tetzlaff's 110m and 400m hurdle times would've placed him 7th

The 4x100 relay would've placed 8th and the 4x400 relay 7th.

Casey Orgon's Hammer Throw of 58.99 would've placed him 8th.

Interesting note is that the Oral Roberts men would've scored 40 points in the men's field as 100, 200, triple jump, and pole vault times and measurements would've also won the Pac-10 titles as well.

Obviously with the Pac-10 finals being in Arizona and the Summit League being held in cold wet Sioux Falls possibly would've caused some changes in the times and measurements had the sites been switched. It's still fun to see how the Bison would stack up against some of the best

Oral Roberts had some spectacular first place results. Maybe we'll see Brock Larson clearing 18ft in the pole vault in four years!!

Im sorry but comparing times from two different meets is not an accurate way to compare how we would have done in a different meet. Track is a sport which times and distances are always subjected to weather conditions. Now if you want to compare season best times against the Pac 10 season best performance, it would probably give you a more realistic idea of how we would have fared!

Which is why I closed my previous post with the following

Well, it's more accurate than most comparisons. I prefer to compare NDSU to the Big 10 though. :) Holy cow, that Keshia Baker is smoking fast! Wish NDSU athletes had some better weather / better training facilities.

Please remember that the Leslie Brost won the conference pole vault with her one and only jump; her season best would have won the PAC 10. Also, Whitney's 800 time in the Heptathlon was only as fast as it needed to be (i.e. 20 seconds slower than what she ran at Drake.) Whitney also would be a top 2 or 3 long jumper in the PAC 10 and (I think), could place in 200, 400, 100 hurdles, and 400 hurdles. To me, no offense to Roesler, Carlson is the most incredible track athlete I've seen from North Dakota. Maybe she doesn't have one-event potential that Roesler or Wells had but, holy cow, she is just so incredibly versatile.

I think it is also relevant to say that comparing two meets doesn't work if the overall competition/skill level isn't somewhat equal between the meets. T&F athletes, particularly the runners, always do better when the competition is stiffer. If NDSU were competing in the PAC 12 meet, I believe their times would be significantly better due to the increase competition and the better weather.

Let the record show that I'm respectfully leaving this one alone.
