Here is an article from a small Twin Cities newspaper about Frank Veldman, who has signed to play football for us next year. A stud athlete in basketball and track and field as well.

Personal best in the high jump of 6-10 and he wants to get 23-feet in the long jump and high 40s in the triple. Do we know, is Lars planning on trying to use him? With Geditz graduating, having another 7-foot high jumper would be huge!

Not to pick nits, but 6-10 is not 7 feet. Rounding up is not fair to those who have actually gone 7 feet.

Lars always leaves it up to the athlete and the other coach. I am sure that there will be a conversation since he is so good.

How about having a 6-10 high jumper as an 18-year-old would be huge...

I doubt training to be a FS or SS would help his high jumping. He will need to put on more weight.

With just getting stronger, etc he should increase that. There is so much emphasis on ballistic training these days, I'd be surprised if NDSU isn't also doing a lot of it. Jump squats ftl.
