So I guess that means they'll just try to force it through some other way?

This is not the end. Just a committee recommendation. The entire Senate will vote on the Resolution. They COULD ignore the committee.

Since the House already passed it, the Senate vote is the last step in getting it on the ballot for voters to decide. Statewide vote is nedded because it is a proposed Constitutional Amendment.

yea and they ignored Richard Marselies's NO vote recomendation and he was the CHAIRMAIN of the Turtle Mt Indian Tribe/Casino AND Chairman of a National Native American Board... too bad the arrogant senators didnt listen to a NATIVE AMERICAN. just sad.

I believe the legislature played this poorly (thank God). They probably should have let the Sioux name thing fester for another two years and then brought this suggestion. I think they could have played the "they aren't responsive to the people" card much more effectively if the Sioux names goes down in flames...
