Are you going to school to become a sports writer/sports media? Seems like you do alot of this stuff, probably a pretty sweet career.

I am. Majoring in Broadcast Comm and getting strong-armed into doing...well, everything. Had a few guest columns in the Spectrum.

Unfortunately I'm not doing this because it's fun (though it is fun), it's a tough business to separate yourself in so I'm trying my damndest to get a head start. Appropriately, any feedback would be most welcome.

I'd say you are doing exactly what you have to be doing to get ahead in your field. Get your name and work out there, so when you start applying for jobs, you have years worth of work you have done. Be poor now while you are young and it is still "cool" to be broke/underemployed. Once you get to my age, it isn't as acceptable to be working for free, etc.

So random update, after a few months' worth of posting, I was contacted today by an internet-content advisor for Forum Comm. Apparently she stumbled across the BSB and thinks it's awesome, so is having it advertised on the Forum's and WDAY's websites! It's also going to be the Hot Blog of the Week in this Friday's Fargo Forum! Thanks everybody for the support all these months.

I'll be heading onto an FCS-specific podcast in about a half hour here that's recorded in Virginia, link will be provided once it's up. Plenty of NDSU love about to spill onto the airwaves.

I'm curious, what do you plan on doing after college KyRo? It seems like you have a hand in a couple different medias -- print and radio as far as I can tell. Are you going to narrow it down once college is over?

My aspiration has always been radio (I'm in what should be my last year as a Broadcasting major), but I know enough about the industry to know that you need to be able to do anything and everything. Really at this point my goal is just to maybe get the attention of some publication or agency that says "Hey, this kid obviously has no life, and we can exploit that!" If they pay me in so doing, I'm OK with that.

I've heard you have a "face for radio", and if I were you, I would try to find a newspaper job in some smaller town like Wing, ND...although those high-profile jobs are hard to come by.

Seriously, you do a great job...I always enjoy your work!!! Outside of Lakes, you provide the most current and accurate information. ;)

Be sure to pick up a copy of Friday's Forum to see the Bison Sports Blog as the Hot Blog of the Week! Just added a post about the Canadian games for the hoops team and some roster breakdown. Plenty of stuff on the way for the scrimmage too!

Stopped onto Kyle Kensing's saturdayblitz.com FCS Podcast, check it out: http://saturdayblitz.com/2011/08/21/saturdayblitz-com-podcast-episode-2-talking-fcs-with-kyle-roth/

Turned out pretty good, 37 minutes of NDSU pimpage and talk.

Oh my. Listened back to it and the audio quality is awful.
