The new 4 story apartment complex at the south west corner of T-Lot is coming along nicely.

I was shocked to see the progress as I drove by campus yesterday.

These should do very well.

I think the price of gas is going to help developments like this. Hopefully it will also lead to higher graduation rates as students will be able to spend more time studying and less time driving.

Me and my roomates sent in an application to the T lofts. Our current sieve could use some more insulation.

Wow, nice looking places and each bedroom gets a private bathroom, too, even in the 4-beds. Are these managed through NDSU res-life, or are they totally independent? Any idea what the cost runs?

I think it is a similar to the apartments by stop-n-go on 19th.

ResLife has no part in this project.

I'm still wondering where everyone is going to park.

I think they have underground parking, although most likely not enough for everyone. They have an agreement with NDSU to use the T lot, with permit of course.

Thats what I was thinking, but the only problem is that T-Lot is set up for commuter students. Now that we have Bison Block and T-Lofts selling permits for their residents to part there, there will be less spots for students who travel to campus every day to park.

How full does T-lot currently get? Usually there were ample spots on the south/souteast end still open. With the cheaper permit and free bus from teh dome, I wonder why some commuter students still park (and pay for) T

I remember a couple days where there were no spots in T-lot. It was during winter with some snow piles sitting around. I think it very possible that Tlot could be full on a daily basis with those apartments filled up.

Maybe if this development company stands to benefit from TLot, maybe they will pay to re-surface the parking lot!

Is 1426 12th Ave still the lone holdout of the slums? It was the hockey(but) house from 84-87. Many a good time there. I was in high school til around 86 (thats to rile some posters) and learned how to live at that place. Micks was the first of many bars I was banned from (kicked out at 17 is that legal) For reasons that were debatable

the western portion of T-lot is full 90% of the time, and with all the construction going on with the apartments more people are parking in the eastern portion of the lot behind the bison block building. before they blocked off parts of T lot for the construction not that many people parked behind the bison block building, made for some good parking spots when it was -30.

One thing they failed to ever do was construct customer parking for Jimmy John's/Sandellas (before Sandella's closed). I remember my days at NDSU when I was slave to my automobile and stopping off at JJ's at Bison Block and worrying I'll get a ticket for parking cause all parking places were taken for building tenants and JJ's drivers.

They tried, but the owner wouldn't sell for anything approaching market value. Then the city came in and condemned the house and put them in the special assessment district for the 12th ave overpass. The next thing you know they wanted to sell. Go figure.

I think that building has two addresses (it's a side-by-side duplex) so it must be 1428 that surrendered.

In 1986 when my brother lived there, I spent one evening resting right there in the grass. 1426 12th Ave N should be a historical residence. Royalty stayed there, I think it was the sugarbeet queen from Grafton. As tony stated, 1428 gave up. Once these historic homes are gone, well, we will probably be better off

As a student who parks in T lot everyday I am concerned about losing out on parking spaces because of those new apartments, bad enough right now its hard to find a spot with construction. However I am glad the housing around campus has really taking a HUGE upgrade (bison block,LLC, apartments by railroad tracks) since I came here in 2007. Not to mention the 12th Ave make over makes coming to NDSU look more state of the art. I cant wait til that house between bison block is destroyed! Another bison block is going in there right?

The development around campus is a good thing and a money maker for the owners.

I was a resident at Da Mint, 1434 12th Ave, the last 2 years of its long history at NDSU. I thought of the houses between T-Lot and Campus as a peninsula surrounded NDSU. The area was somewhat looked down up school and government officials, the properties offered freedom from University Policy, and had ample parking for parties. In summer of 2007, the 3 houses east of 1426/1428 duplex were torn down for the construction of Bison Block 1.

At that point the remaining 3 houses were then isolated island. There was no shortage of social gatherings at the houses during the 07-08 school year since everyone knew the end of the historic residences was near. In May of 2008, these 3 houses were torn down to make way for Bison Block 2.

Several good memories from those 2 years.

They will just push parking to the Fargodome for commuting students. Its sucks during the winter walking from up there though. In winter, I would sometimes drive to the North end of campus even though I lived on 12th ave if I had it warmed up anyway. Parking penalties and enforcement was increased in 2007, and that set parking straight on campus. It took about 5 tickets before I figured it out though. I believe they also increased enforcement in the residential areas around campus as well that year.

The new T Lofts were great for the two years I lived there.

That expansion project is really loud for those that work different shifts, though. Today they were tearing off the bricks with an excavator.

Can't wait to be in my own home in the next two weeks.
