Not to mention he was out or limited by injury for a fair part of his career here at NDSU (at least from what I recall, he wasn't a big presence last season). Impressive indeed.

I had an English class with Josh last year, and we had to announce our career goals to the class, and he said his intention was to play in the NFL...at the time I thought it was a long shot, but just looking at him he has NFL size and speed. He had flashes of a big time player last year, and now he's getting it done at the right time with the all-star game and workouts. Good for him!!!

He has got the physical measurables that the NFL scouts, staffs, etc. drool over. Someone will grab him in the late rounds as a project, he hasen't played CB all that long if I remember right, and if he can play Special Teams he will stick. Best of luck to him!

There was never any doubt that Gatlin had elite physical tools. On the surface, there is no way a guy like Freddy Banks should have EVER been able to beat out Gatlin. I tend to assume the coaches know what they are doing, so I guessed that he must have had some trouble with the mental aspects of the game. When he did start playing more, he played very well, so either a light came on at some point or he should've been playing all along.

Gatlin had a better season than Williams. Marcus got burned a few times don't recal Gatlin getting burned all season. Marcus got burned twice against EWU but I think the field conditions hurt him. He has just ad much potential as Josh and he's young.

Gatlins weak point was evident during the Texas vs. Nation game, that is his ability to get off a block and make a tackle. For the most part Gatlin does a great job on pass coverage and has the ability to make a big play i.e. intercept or knock down a pass. IMO the key to Gatlins success in NFL will be improving arm and leg strength to fight off blocks. This will also help him in tough coverage situations.

One thing Gatlin has that Marcus might not is NFL-level speed.

That said, Marcus put in the best coverage performance I've ever seen from a freshman Bison CB. He still has some stuff to work on but, wow, what a first season.

If Gatlin can get on an NFL P-squad for a couple years, then maybe get some playing time on another team or two and parlay that for a little while, he can seriously earn enough money to retire off of. In the end, paying the bills are the most important thing, and if I was him, I wouldn't care if I didn't end up being the next Charles Woodson, just as long as I have that NFL experience for a while.

Marcus Williams, a 6-foot point guard from Minnetonka (MN) Hopkins, is putting up some outstanding numbers. Williams, one of the state's top two-sport athletes, caught 45 passes for 1,025 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is averaging 8.1 points per game for the nationally ranked Royals, who are 14-0. However, he got his most important number recently, 4.4 40 yard dash according to coach Ken Novak Jr.

High school coaches aren't the most consistent source of 40 times but if Marcus is nearly as fast as Gatlin, that's plenty fast. There are probably darn few players who could run down Taiwan Jones - Gatlin is one of them.

Anyway, pretty sure that Kolpack reported a couple days ago that Gatlin was the fastest guy on the team - kind of surprised me because I thought Mike Sigers was probably the fastest.

I dont know. I heard the flash played for georgia southern back before the NCAA decided recording stats in the FCS(Diaa) was a good idea.

Truth be told (and I'm ashamed to admit it) I thought he was going down for sure somewhere along the line on that play. I saw like five guys that had a line on him and thought "Well hey, that's still some pretty damn good field position." I looked away, heard the crowd get loud and suddenly he's in the endzone. Awesome play, great game to boot.
