Duke's Ryan Kelly made a strong push to unseat Bison alum Lance Berwald's NCAA (all divisions) record of 20 consecutive field goals and could have tied Berwald for highest FG percentage in a single game (100%) (minimum of 13 attempts).

Ryan's consecutive made field goals streak ended at 18 during their game against Boston College last night.

-sidenote: I had the best seat in the house when Berwald had that incredible night vs. Augustana in 1984,

I guess that nobody gives a shit about an NDSU athlete holding on to an all time NCAA record for 27 years.

Further, over the course of that game and the one prior and after, he actually canned 28 straight which is also the NCAA all divisions record for consecutive field goals outside of a single game.

I was lucky to be able to watch Berwald when I was attending NDSU. It was so much fun to go to packed home games on the weekend. Some great players back then including Jeff Askew.

Jeff was great, loved watching him. He used to work the Bison basketball camps when I went and he was a great guy. Berwald used to jack us around during room check, would find dust on the vents and make us run for a messy room. I look back on it now and laugh but didn't at the time.
