Even though it was DII, the thing that makes me happy is that every single sport in the athletic program won at least a few NCC championships.

That said I do think this thread should get a sticky somewhere, I think it is good to remind people of our success and just how many sports at NDSU have been successful.

Pretty sure this is the type of things they want to promote in the HOF at the newly renovated SHAC as they will have more space to do it. At least that's what I gathered on one of the articles where they mentioned it along with the Fargo Scheel's HOF display. I am sure prospects/recruits seeing this display (SHAC HOF) will put a bee in their ear that NDSU has had a lot of athletic success! Especially for some of the sports that don't get as much attention as the rest, until the last few years I didn't realize how good our Track and Field has been the last 20-30 years, you never heard about it except maybe when they won the NCAA championships and then they got buried on the back page of the paper?

The track teams have won 13 of those 25 Summit League titles and if you combine the Summit with the NCC...NDSU track and field has 84 conference titles all-time.

I could go on and on and raving about what the track teams have done, it is just crazy.

ORU has probably won more, since they've won the Commisioner's Cup something like 4 years in a row. NDSU and SDSU have always placed high in the standings, not bad for a couple of new DI teams.

Holy carp, tempus is fugiting! Can't believe it's been that long... er, actually, I think that NDSU has been in the Summit for six years not seven (2007-08 was the first year and 2013-14 is the current year

This thread is AWESOME. I admit to only looking at the DI stuff, but in any case, I think all this info should go up on a big mural somewhere near campus. The NDSU HoF seems to downplay it a little visually. maybe in the new HoF at the SHAC??

Even though it was DII, the thing that makes me happy is that every single sport in the athletic program won at least a few NCC championships.

I noticed some tweets saying we won 9 league titles but really we have 11, a few teams doubled-dipped and won both regular season and tournament titles.

What they really should be saying is nine different teams won titles.

Just amazing how many conference and national champions since 1964 in all sports (I did a quick count and came up with 245 total). Compare that with only about 14 total conference or national champions at NDSU in all sports prior to 1964. I know some of that has to do with organization of college sports, conference structure and number of sports at NDSU (mens and women's), but wow, seems much can be credited to when teammakers began and football started doing so well.

Thanks for updating this! I spent a long time trying to find this thread yesterday but searches for "champions" don't turn up "champs." Maybe I should have looked for a stickied thread... geez.

BTW, NDSU took second in men's cross country to SDSU - but SDSU had a perfect score since their runners finished 1-2-3-4-5 to score 15 points - that's hard to do even in dual meets... an SDSU runner also took 6th place!
