Bohl claims he has a punter coming in. Not even lakes has thrown a name out there? Is Voigtlander the punter?

The spot is his to take. Was the back-up last year. We'll find out in the spring if he decides just to punt. He had a pretty good leg and if he becomes a specialist he will do a good job. Tough decision on his part though not be a RB and "just" a punter.

I have heard that the punter is on the team, so I would assume Voigtlander as well... This was one of my questions for Kolpack to ask Bohl during his sit down interview.

He can do both--it's been done before, and by a starter. Voit won't even be a starter.

i dont care about punters.

You should. When we played Montana St and both teams went three and out a few times and NDSU gained 8-12 yds on the exchange, basically earning a first down with punting.

Both Drago and Prelvitz got lots of hang time and were tops in FCS in net punting, plus both exceled in burying the opponents deep giving our D an advantage. Those situations are invaluable to a defense.

We've been spoiled with Drago then Prelvitz and 8 yrs of exceptional punting, so it is easy to think you don't care. If we get crap for a punter, then you might figure out you do, in fact, care. Not sure you're smart enough to figure that out, but you might be.

Foolish thinking imho. With our "style" of play meaning ball control offense and bend don't break defense punting is very important.

You don't need the imho. It IS foolish thinking to not care about the punter. It is a integral part of the type of game we play. Bohl talks field position and turning the field over every week at teammakers and how important it was and just about always points it out on the Sunday morning show and in interviews. It is just plain wrong to not think about or care about our punting game. Good punting and a good D won us many games this year and other years.

Being "just" a punter worked out pretty well for Drago, funny thing is a was roommates with a football player that came in the same year as Drago and they said he had some of the best hands on the team when he'd play WR. Would have been interesting to see how someone Drago's size would have done at WR, but from what they said back then his speed and route running weren't quite good enough to play ahead of the other guys on the depth chart.

Drago had a fantastic career at Oak Lawn Richards HS as both a punter and wide out.
During his senior season he caught 51 passes for 1,109 yards (21.7 ypc) and 16 touchdowns.
And this was for a Richards HS team that has a long history of major success in the Chicago Metro area holding the state record for most consecutive post season appearances with 23.

Incidently, there is a tie for 2nd behind Mike in the "Most Famous Richards HS Alumni Club"
Dwayne Wade and Kanye West. (although I believe West went to the affiliate district HS for the naughty kids.) A little something I like to call Stateville Prep. *
*Stateville being the maximum security prison in this area.
