Forum Communications, finding a way to spin the most positive stories negatively.

However, they still can't spell. On the other story re: ticket sales it reads...

Any season tickets not purchased by 9 p.m. will go on sale to the genearl public at 8 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 23).

You know, I don't see that. I thought it was a very informative article. We know we weren't a top seed.

If you had a poll, 90% of us on Bisonville would have said we were one of the last two picked.

And I was really curious as to what NDSU bid on the home game. All things considered, it was a reasonable, perhaps even conservative bid. It does pay to be one of the top 10-11 teams for ave. attendance in the FCS. This is not unfair advantage. It is business.

I'm sure Montana offered more money, but their team didn't offer the DI wins.

No, it's one of the night editors that usually come up with those. It's basically one of those "I'm barely making more than minimum wage but I have the power" type of jobs like a rent-a-cop.

Seriously, how about something as simple as, "Fargodome sees first Bison playoff game" or even "Bison host first playoff game in two decades".

Chea, I won't be renewing my subscription that has already expired, no matter how many $50-for-the-daily -or-an-entire-year offers you throw at me.

Trust me, you're not the only one.

Casselton is the main economic hub and intellectual engine of Cass County, so its newspaper should be the county paper!

There is nothing wrong with the story. Reporting the truth is bad or frowned on? Come on, it's a legitimate story, just like a team making the NCAA hoops tourney as a bubble team is. We all knew that we were probably one of the last teams in -- this confirms it. What's the big deal? I don't get it. It sure as heck beats the other potential story line, "Bison last team left out of the playoffs."

Want to talk headlines? Here's one:

Bison continue post-season run with upset victory at Montana State

so after ignoring the tory for a good portion of the morning THIS is what we get from the local paper? F*** the forum. srsly.

Here's what other Missouri Valley local newspapers have to say as of 5:30 pm:

WIU Leathernecks (McDonough Voice):

http://www.mcdonoughvoice.com/sports/x535938202/Leathernecks-back-in-the-FCS-playoffs

WIU Leathernecks (Peoria Journal Star):

http://www.pjstar.com/sports/x1892564853/Western-Illinois-football-in-FCS-playoffs
(developing story) Uh-huh.

UNI Panthers (WCF Courier):

http://wcfcourier.com/sports/college/uni/football/article_7fc72c10-f582-11df-ba5f-001cc4c002e0.html

UNI Panthers (Cedar Falls Times):

Nothing, yet. Maybe tomorrow. Hey, it's Sunday!

UNI Panthers (Des Moines Register):

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20101121/SPORTS020702/101121002/-1/caucusright/Northern-Iowa-football-Panthers-to-host-Lehigh-in-first-round-of-playoffs

The Morning Call (Allentown, PA.) has a nice article for Lehigh, but this is the best line for UNI:

"But while they play in the same state, Northern Iowa is not Drake." (Lehigh opened the season with Drake and was really hoping for a home game to start the playoffs. Lehigh beat Drake 28-14. I get the impression, they think UNI is a step down! Get this: Drake beat Valparaiso 21-19, and got defeated by Montana State 48-21. Have a good game, Lehigh!)

Robert Morris (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review):

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/breaking/s_710413.html

Robert Morris: (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette):

You know, we cover Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia and Duquesne. Robert Morris, not so much. Maybe tomorrow under "More Colleges."

http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/

OK, just for fun, let's go to the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and see what kind of coverage the Bobcats are getting.
Let's see, lots of Saturday stories about the big win over the Grizzlies, but narry a word about the playoffs? How can this be? MSU---#4 in the nation, receiving a bye in the first round and no mention of the playoffs? Unbelievable.

http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/sports/msu/

Not impressed? Me, either.
I'll take Bison coverage on inforum.com, thank you, very much.

I particularly enjoyed the 3/4 page article from Friday (or was it Saturday) in the Forum about..... the Forum. Something about how big the Thanksgiving edition is going to be. Ridiculous.

But there sure have been some crappy articles already this week.

What? Would have it killed Schnepf to work in a UND hockey reference? :)

Kolpack is always great but Schnepf writes an article making it sound like we're a team with no support, even though we're still in the top 10 in attendance. And our 12K attendance from 2 weeks ago was the highest in the MVFC and the 4th highest in the nation.

I have to say the headlines in the paper were far better than what they had online.

I will give them a hard time when I think they deserve it and give them props also when it is good.

For those of you out of Fargo:

Front page above fold: Bison bring playoffs to Fargodome

Sports page: Celebrated Selection, NDSU's goal: Fill the Dome, and Bison squeeze into FCS field

"NDSU's Goal is to fill the Dome".

Well no shit...

It's a play on words. Every year there's a massive food drive called "Fill the Dome." All the local schools and many businesses contribute as well as most or all of the local supermarkets. By coincidence, this year's Fill the Dome is just wrapping up. It was actually a decent headline, just one that looks bad to people living outside the area.

As for the headline that started this mess, it had the bad timing to be the first one posted on the Forum website. The Forum ran three articles about the playoff selection, but chose the one with the worst headline to lead it off the night before. I doubt it would've received such a strong reaction on here if the other two articles had been posted first.
