Win the next 3 and make the playoffs with a chance to bid on a home game. We have a bye week to get healthy and an extra week to practice and prepare for the next game. We need to approach the SIU game like it's the biggest game in our short D1 history because it is. This game will actually count. We need to figure out a way to fill the seats and get the students to the game. Man that was a pretty pathetic student turnout and they set the tone for a quiet crowd.

The Saluki's are a good team but they are beatable. Just ask the Jacks who whooped up on them at home.

Ill be at the NDSU/SIU game. Will be my first game ever at the Fargodome. I cant wait. I hope NDSU kills SIU.

Got to witness SIU beat NDSU down in Carbondale. Had a great time too, but that was because I was a Saluki back then. Went to school there. But now that I am transferring to NDSU, I hope we run SIU into the ground. And ill be there to witness it. I hope it gets loud.

The rest of the games should be wins too. We WILL go 3-0 in these final 3 games.

We are working our way into great playoff position but this pass defense needs to get shored up quickly. Any team watching tape from this game will be able to scheme to rip us apart through the air.

I know some of you probably think that I am all negativity but I also feel that it could be done for the Bison to go 3-0. What we need to do first off is to limit mental mistakes. Mental mistakes are 14 penalties for 124 yards. That has to stop. Yes we are a young team, but we are a good young team. And good young teams get better each week, so limiting mental mistakes is a must especially for our last 2 homes games (SIU, and SDSU). On defense, I think that the best thing for the defense is REST. Over all I was okay with the defensive effort. We held to ISU-Blue to 27 yards, yes only 27 yards for the whole game. Considering that we came in giving up 244 yards per game our run D was phenomenal. I am a little worried about the fact that we gave up 330 yards passing, but we did better in the 2nd half of the game. I feel that with rest the defense will be better because they are healthier. On offense we should just give the ball to D.J. as much as we can, he is a stud. We need another receiver to help both Mohler and Holloway. If our passing game is to be successful we need someone to step up to be the #2 wide-out and another viable option to Holloway. I think that Mohler has some trust in Holloway, but 0 trust in either Justin Howard or Titus Mack.

I think that we can win the next 3 games, but it is going to take a big effort from the entire team starting with Craig Bohl to make that happen. I for one hopes that this happens.

Last year has NOTHING to do with this year. Indiana State is better than Illinois State, Youngstown, and Missouri State and our defense showed up and shut them down for the most part. We played alot better today than the prior two weeks. However the mental mistakes on offense have to stop immediately or we will lose the last three.

We need to look at the SIU game as bigger because if we lose our playoff hopes are gone. I hope the fans are smart enough to recognize this. I hope the players and coaches prepare for this game like its a playoff game. I hope the school gets this message to the students. If we can't get pumped up for this game we need to get our pulses checked. Or hand out free viagra at the door.

This ^^^. Pass defense looked very bad at times yesterday and gave up some big first downs that nearly killed us. Better teams will really exploit that...

I think we will handle SIU, but I do think SDSU is going to play spoiler again unfortunately. It's going to make me hate them even that much more.

It's a zone defense, it's not hard to pick it apart if you have the QB to do it...

10% chance we win 3 in a row and make the playoffs.

30% chance we beat SIU, but lose to SDSU.

105% chance we lose to SIU and then SDSU kills us because we no longer have anything to play for.

This team is too young and too undisciplined to put together a 3 win streak against teams like SIU, SDSU, and MS St.

I don't know man... your numbers are giving me a headache. It depends just how quickly the young guys can catch on.

Indiania state had a great QB, but they were soft up front on both sides of the ball compared to what we will see the next two games. Im not saying we cant win these games, but we have to play better than we did yesterday.

Good point. Indiana State reminds me more of the Coyotes. Good QB but smaller. SIU and SDSU will be more like Western Illinois.

I am just not convinced that this team can win the next 3. 1-2 losses IMO. Major problems on offense, major problems on defense, and most importantly not playing disciplined football. I am going to be at all 3 games until the final horn, however.

Based on the last game, what are the major issues with the defense? It was a great effort. I saw them shut down the run, give up some pass yards only because they had to abandoned the run, and score points. Bend but don't break.

You were also sure the team was going to lose to Indiana State and, IIRC, didn't have any faith that they'd do much this season (for example, beating an FBS team). I'll go ahead and chalk this up to pessimism. :)

If we take it one game at a time it's very manageable. We have two weeks to heal up and return some very important pieces - healthy Gratzek, Vandal, Veldman, Evans (all the way). The bye week is going to be tremendously beneficial and it'll help to plan more against the team that was supposed to run away with the conference. SDSU melted down to start the year, no reason to think they can't do it again. Miss. St. is getting their defense shredded on a weekly basis.

One game at a time.

Yep, I'm extremely pessimistic this season. Every game prediction thread this year where I have picked the Bison to lose they have won, so I will continue to pick against them the rest of the year in hopes they continue the trend. If we win out that will be amazing, but I'm not expecting it. If we can somehow beat SIU, SDSU is still going to be a huge challenge. And of course, after losing the first 4 SDSU is now back on track and rattling off wins. Bohl has not proven to me that he knows how to prepare a team for and coach in a rivalry game. It's frustrating. He can get the team up for a FBS opponent but put us up against SDSU or UNI and the team chokes. If this team somehow beats SIU and SDSU then I should just quit watching football altogether because it'll be obvious that I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

I will chalk your unbridled optomism up to youth and too many drugs.
I just can't believe this team has what it takes, given all the current shortcomings this late in the season, to make it to the playoffs, let alone if they somehow were to make it they would get killed in the first game. Just basing my judgement on facts, not fantasy. ;)

Id rather get smoked in the playoffs than not go at all. But if we can bid on a home game I like our chances against anyone. A dome playoff game would be electric.

Said twice in a thread titled "3 more wins! Pump it up!"
If we win three in a row, I will be astounded. I just hope "making the playoffs" is not the ultimate goal of the future of Bison football. I will also defer to 56 on what will happen if we make the playoffs this year, but I don't think we have to worry about that. We are just not a playoff-type team this year, whether we make it there or not. Maybe in the next couple of years we will be.
