I was reading a thread at AGS about NFL talent at BCS schools vs. non-BCS, and it made me think of a something. I got to thinking about talent levels, and how it seems to me that NDSU has had quite a few guys get looks and even make NFL squads.

How do we stack up against other Valley teams as far as that stat goes? What are the numbers from transition to now? Since membership in the Valley to now?

I can find the #'s on guys on team rosters, that's easy, but what about the guys that get signed to FA that don't make the cut? If the NFL is looking you got skills, and that number is very important I think.

My perception is that NDSU is producing NFL caliber players at an equal if not higher rate than other conference teams. If NDSU has been producing a disproportionate amount of NFL talent to Valley teams the last few years, then you really have to wonder why this isn't showing in the W/L column.

I know having a lot of NFL talent on a team doesn't automatically mean you would have a good/great college team, but at least in the FBS it seems there is some correlation. LSU, OSU, Michigan, Miami, USC, etc all send a boatload of talent to the NFL, and are consistently strong teams.

I guess if NDSU is average or below average, that is an obvious fix, better recruiting. But if NDSU is showing mid to upper on NFL talent, then I guess we all know the reason.

I don't have the numbers, but I would bet the farm that we don't produce more NFL talent than UNI, SIU, YSU, W Ill, MSU, or Ill St.

I could give a rip how many NFL players NDSU produces......I care that the Bison continue to suck at winning conference titles and getting into the playoffs. That is the only true measure of success in FCS.

For years, UNI had the most of any team in FCS - ten. Don't know where it is now. Certainly more than the Prairie Poopers.

Does that include replacement players, AKA scabs?

Impressive when you consider we were DII until a few years ago. Hopefully there are a few more on the current roster, the potential
is definitely there.

Ryan Johnson was signed with the CLF? How did Walker not get a CLF offer but Ryan Johnson did? I don't remember Johnson being any better than Gorder.
