Mays to Start at ILB vs. Jets

The Broncos also replaced injured defensive starters Brian Dawkins with Nate Jones at strong safety and linebacker Robert Ayers with Joe Mays. Ayers is an outside linebacker so the Broncos are moving inside linebacker Mario Haggan to the outside and moving Mays in next to D.J. Williams at inside linebacker.

Joe Mays: Making most of chance

The Broncos traded for Mays on the first day of training camp, and he has been a key member of the Broncos' special-teams units in the team's first five games. Today against the Jets, he could see his first significant playing time on defense as the team figures out how to replace several injured players.

I haven't seen him in on a defensive play yet. They've been running a 4-3 most of the game.

And as I hit enter on that post, he comes in for a 3rd down. Denver called TO before the snap.

I watched or listened to almost the entire game yesterday and didnt hear his name once. I did see him on a blitz on one play, but that was the only time I saw him.

Denver ran a primary 4-3 and Mays was basically used as a sub and special teams player. I don't think DJWill came off much at all and Haggan floated from inside and outside. Mays did not play much at all on defense.
