If the playoffs started today these are the teams that would be in.... The ten Conference champions (AQ) in bold.
Then ten at large teams in order of standings. The GPI has correctlyy predicted the at large selections that past few years and will be used by the committee again this year. We no longer have to discuss records when we can just look at the rankings each week.

Bleh this would make us an unseeded away team! We can do better!

not necessarily... isn't it a bidding process?

Pretty much. There is some regionalization but a few years ago a 7-4 Montana State team with a loss to a DII school hosted a game.

HELL NO!

We might lose and then half of our crazy fantasies will become even crazier. Eventually we'll start sketching out stadiums with retractable roofs...

And Bullet trains

Slightly off thread here, but I rode a bullet train in Germany. It was kinda neat going 150 mph with a ride as smooth as silk. Okay, now back to the GPI.

Yes and given the fact we are# 6 in attendance and have more money available means we can get a home game, unless were bidding against Appy, Montana, etc

But if we don't win on Saturday it wont likely matter unless we can make the improbable undefeated run vs SIU, SDSU, and Missouri State.

Let's hope that The Redbirds weren't lookyahead to us.

That's what we thought one of the last times we played Pitt State and they outbid us, taking a loss on the game. Hopefully we don't let that happen again (if we even make the playoffs).

RTO, I guess that's only fair since the entire OTP tailgating crew has been focused on your wife all year. Did I mention that we love it when she shows up by herself (without you)?

If the playoffs started today. By my reading, with the autobids for conference champs. We wouldn't even be in the playoffs.

20 teams, not 16 this year.

Western Illinois won't be on that for long, just checked on their website and their next four games are:

Vs. YSU
At. MSU
Vs. ISU-red
At. UNI

They have at least, maybe 2 loses in their, and they just lost to a 1-4 Jacks.

I'd rather see the Bison vie to be one of 20-24 playoff teams more than a team that tries to make a Bowl Game that no one cares about.

The FCS went to 20 so the NEC and the Big South could get autobids. It was all about growing the FCS and rewarding conferences that have spent a lot of time in building up their programs. It was a good and sound decision, the only way the FCS goes to 24 is if the SWAC or Ivy wants to participate in the playoffs.

Oh, absolutely not. The trend now is to give out little trophies to everybody. That makes them feel better than a flimsy little ribbon. More 'Moms' will be happy, too, so it's a win-win for everybody!!

On a serious note, though, giving a 'bye' to the top 12 teams is a nice reward for those teams. It'll give them an advantage of healing up little nagging injuries, while still needing to win only four games, not five, to claim the title. Not to piss off Lakes, but 24 would be better, as only 8 teams would gain this advantage, making it more imperative to finish in the top 8.

Actually, a likelier expansion scenario is the addition of the Pioneer League (all they need to do is ask to be included, and they're in) and maybe the splitting of the CAA, or of the combined MVFC/Summit. It would be so good for the Ancient 8 to participate, but hasn't been boo about that.

I was certain that was what the CAA was going to do before Northeastern and Hofsra dropped football. With the two new additions, they would've been able to form 2, 7-team conferences and work out some sort of scheduling alliance to get another 2 or 3 games. Oh well. Guess they'll stay at 12 for a while.

Hey, some of us have to work. We in the real world do not have the luxury of sitting around in our office, waiting for UND pilots to walk by so we can make fun of them. :)
