Game on. Looks cool out there, apparently MESA high is bigtime.
Prime player:
#2 Matt Jones. "featured back very excited man to watch"
This Horizon team needs a weight and training center to bulk up the team a bit...
I like that Stanford is given two plays and is calling them at the line. Jones looks like a tough straight at you runner.
I envison that Vraa and Gerbhart (SP?) will really like Stanford.
Since Stanford is used to the spread, is NDSU going to a spread offense?

I like the look of #40 LB for Mesa, can we sign him up. He looks a lot like Joe Mays/Preston Evans...

TD run by Stanford. He showed some toughness on that one. The announcers and talking a lot about Stanford and Jones.
I liked their first offensive play: Stanford to Jones, 80-yd TD pass (nice touch on the pass and great grab on the run.)

I didn't see the start, but from hte little I've seen Jones does a heck of a job since he's staring down the whole defensive line as soon as he gets the ball...
Stanford hasn't thrown many deep balls (completed one of 25 yards or so). I didn't see the 80-yarder to JOnes. Looks pretty poised.

Stanford is 6'2" 176 lb! :eek: Spread QB. Throws a nice ball. Needs to hit the weights!
Jones is compact and quick with big-time swagger.

Jones is fast, and shifty.
QB is stand up and throw qb. 3-5 step drops, very deliberate.
he has broke every record of the old QB who went to ARIZONA STATE>

They had a guy on from scout.com and he mentioned that Stafford and Jones verballed to NDSU last night. Announcer guy asked why NDSU? Scout.com guy said it was all AJ Cooper and his ties to Arizona as the reason for those 2 guys are coming to NDSU. Announcer guy also mentioned the great history of NDSU running backs

Both committed to North Dakota State. The local scout.com guy said "these two were always d-1 kids." Mentioned ties to AJ Cooper and NDSU's history of good backs. Said Jones is "big, strong, with the speed to get to the edge and good between the tackles."

Announcer: "And a lot of good runningbacks have come out of NDSU and gone on to better things. It's gonna be interesting to see how guys that play in the heat go up to NDSU and play in a different environment up there."

#40 Vaitafa of mesa just sniffed out a screen play and threw him back for 4 yards.
next play. stanford hits jones in flat, and he accelerates 10+ yards across the middle and crushed the safety. WOW!
another NDSU mention... this has to help recruiting!@

Then during highlights he calls them the "The North Dakota State connection." He said "they're watching up in Fargo, those guys are gonna be Bison (pronounced wrong, of course) next year. They're loving it up there."

Sounds like good stuff. I lived in Phoenix for 6 years and seemed like Mesa always had a great team. Great to hear all the good news about NDSU and our recruits. What is the score and time left in the game?

Ah, now I know why Tony Vaitafa doesn't have big time offers - academics but, wow, he's a complete player. Sounds like he's going to a JUCO (sorry can't give you a score SDBison because I'm DVRing it to so I can skip commercials - Horizon up by 3 at the half.)

I thought Jones was better than his stats (which weren't bad). His yards-per-carry went down because his O-line was overmatched, especially at the goal line when they kept trying to run him up the middle. He had to fight hard for every inch with 3 or 4 tacklers on him.
ANother NDSU reference as they interview Jones and Stanford...

Post-game interview with Jones and Stanford on now. Apparently, they are best friends and talking about their verbal. Apparently, Stanford made his decision first and hoped that Jones would come with him.
Interviewer was quite complimentary to NDSU - called it a "great school." Fina now talking about North Dakota State and how happy is for the guys. Very cool.
