It's Bison Gameday!

NDSU's Week 4 matchup pits the #18 Bison against the #20 South Dakota Coyotes, a clash of ranked teams that, curiously enough, highlights both teams' takedowns of FBS schools in this season.

USD currently rides the momentum of a big win at the U of Minnesota, a Week 2 shootout that left them atop the 41-38 result spurred on by Jr. QB Daunte Warren, a true dual-threat QB who has guided USD's offense to an impressive PPG totaling just under 40, signifying a strong offense that offsets a rather weak defense - or so it seems thus far.

Key to NDSU winning the game will be a strong defensive performance keeping Warren in check and allowing the offense to sustain drives enough to score - a shootout would not bode well for NDSU. My 6 year old is pumped for this game already. Before I got out of bed this morning he was playing football in the basement with his BISON jersery on. He said dad the Bison are going to win 34-17. Normally I wouldn't think much of it but he was very close last week. He said 35-10 last week.

IMHO this all comes down to our defensive line and offensive line play. The D Line needs to be very disciplined today to contain warren. I expect to see a lot of bootlegs, reverses and misdirection. They want warren in open space. Need to stay in rush lanes, be aggressive, but be smart.

I am not breaking any news with the offensive line play. This is week 2 with the new starting 5 and we really need to see this group gel and become cohesive. I would love to see 150+ yards rushing today and a great protection day. GO BISON!!

This is what I wrote leading up to the game...I am not trying to prove that I know anything as I know I am an amateur football mind. But if I could have saw this coming, along with many of you in bv, how can the entire defensive team(coaches included) look like they have never seen this scheme before? Warren is good, but he isn't reinventing the position. Maybe our defense just isn't good enough to be on the field with this offense. It seems warren can and will run when he wants and we cannot stop him. I was expecting a lot more I guess from the defense

This game should be very good. I knew nothing of usd before the minn game and as most people, came away impressed with the win and with dante warren. Unless you are a hardcore scout, I don't think anyone has seen much of their other 2 games. They were blown out at Central Florida and blew out an NAIA team last week.

The one stat I noticed is that usd has given up only 3 sacks and their defense has only 2 sacks. This could be great news. Obviously, our OL has been beyond pitiful. Hopefully we can handle their D Line to give our QB time and open up a few holes for our running game. Conversely, our D Line could have some opportunities for wreaking havoc in the backfield. But as we all saw against minn, warren is probably a big reason there hasn't been too many sacks. Our D Line must have good discipline on Saturday or he will run all over us. We can't get caught over pursuing on misdirection, bootlegs, reverses, etc. I think of that 4th down play late in the game against minn, where warren bootlegged around the right side and their was not a gopher within 15 yards and he housed it.

Jensen has really come to life this second half, no offense to Jose, but I think Jensen brings the vertical passing game dimension to this offense, which should losen things up for the RB's a bit more.
