Should be an interesting game.

They have played two FBS teams..lost by 30 and beat the gophers.

Then they hammer a NAIA school. which is like playing Valley City.

I guess we will find out saturday.

What do you guys think, can you tell anything by the games/teams they have played?

I watched parts of the Gopher game and the Minnesota offensive line was pancaking guys left and right but, on the other side of the ball, the Vermillion Varmint looked very impressive - they will give the Bison defense plenty of trouble. Hopefully, the offense can get something done.

agree, from gopher fans I've talked to they had a couple of safties that were clueless and were giving up long passes and were not supporting the run.

Said after a week of practice they would be better, and they were against USC

Is it sat. yet!!!!

The gophers were a mess that game. I don't think they even knew what a screen pass was let alone how to defend against it. That killed them several times. If we contain Warren, we win. If not, we won't. And you guys should listen to me because I correctly implied that if we were able to control the LOS against UNI we'd win. We didn't and we lost. Therefore I am a football genius.

They have Morell as their D coordinator and he was at Sioux Falls that had some pretty good D's at that level but he is in his first year with the Coyote program. He is not from the program so they should see improvement game to game as he gets comfortable with them and implements his schemes but it is still early in the season.

Doesn't matter. No matter who you pick, you move the ball. We are preparing for a shootout. Pinball type game. Winner in upper 30's

You can play your 4th string qb and rb and you will move the ball

I mentioned in another post somewhere that USD has only 2 sacks all year and their opponents have only 3 sacks this year. I'm sure Warren helps with the low sack total with his escapability and shiftiness. Hopefully, our offensive line can gel and play well against their D Line. It would be great to see some running lanes open up for the rb's and some more time for whoever plays qb to go through progressions and find open receivers.

I think that's a given

I know this is going to sidetrack this discussion, but what do we REALLY know about our team?? We think we have a good defense, and may have an offense that can throw the ball now, but do we really know that??

No we don't know anything. But I could tell you in about 8 weeks or so.

They may be improved from last year. I dont think their defense is good at all. UCF beat up on them and they're a mediocre FBS school. The win over the Gophers is impressive but I dont think UM is very good at all. I think it does show how good of a QB Warren is. He dominated the Gophers and he can def. make plays. We will need to contend him and force their other players to beat us.

"I can see why the Great West is disbanding," Meierkort said. "I don't want to take any credit away from UC Davis but I've never seen a team get homered like our team got homered (Saturday night). That was ridiculous. You know me, I do not gripe about officiating after games, but that's the worst officiated game that affected the outcome that I've ever been a part of in 18 years as a head coach."

There must have been some poor officiating for him to say that.

There's more in there about how egotistical the refs were. This cry baby sure likes to get himself in the paper.

Don't worry, I chanted his name really loudly after we crushed them. After he ripped our recruiting practices I felt it was necessary.

Get used to it. We all know how bad the officiating has been as the FCS level. I think we get all the FBS rejects!!!

If he wants good officiating, or at least consistent officiating, tell Meierkort to stay away from the MVC.
