Could go either way. I think Northern Iowa is a better team than Kansas. Flip a coin. Ill pick us by 1 only because it's their first game but i would not be shocked if we lose.

I should add that I don't think we showed much on offense so we should look a lot better. I think the coaching staff chose to put 2/3 of the playbook in their back pocket in the 2nd half. Given how the game was playing out, that looks to have been a good decision. Why take many chances if they can't move the ball and score?

If we can win this game it could really set us up for a special year, starting 4-0.

I want this game bad, way more than Kansas. It is on the level of wanting to beat SDSU or even UND. Kansas's secondary was the backup strength of their team behind the O-line, I think Bohl and company recognized that they had a lot of starters returning and didn't want to take a lot of chances through the air on deeper routes particularly with it being Jose's first big start of the year. I think we'll see some routes open up with the inexperience UNI has in their backfield.

I want this game bad, way more than Kansas. It is on the level of wanting to beat SDSU or even UND. The sacks, the hurries and the complete domination against the run by our front four and linebackers was OUTSTANDING!! The question is, can our offense put points on the board ? I think they can!! I have the feeling that we did not use our entire offensive package at Kansas. Our offensive line actually had a very good game against Kansas, they were actually moving Kansas' defensive line off the line of scrimmage really well. And for those reasons my prediction is:

QFA. If I were a head coach (or really anything more than an average football mind looking in hindsight) playing on the road against an FBS team the first thing I'd tell my QB to do is not take chances - play conservative, keep the ball, work the clock. If we can get enough short-medium yard plays together to scrape out a TD, awesome - if not, let's rely on the run game and our defense. We know both of those things win games so for right now I'm sold on the team being contenders.

That said, I think our passing game is going to come along. Mohler is still getting experience at starting and he's going to get better week by week - not to mention he's a potential three-year starter. If he were a junior or senior not showing a whole heck of a lot then I'd be worried, as is I'm comfortable chalking it up to the game plan and to underclassman jitters. We'll see how he develops in the next few weeks but all in all I'm confident about UNI.

I respect your opinion, but I don't think our defense gives up 35 points in a game this year. In addition, I'm pretty sure that NDSU knows what to expect when it comes to playing a dome, especially one where they have quite a few fans behind them.

This game will be in a dome and both teams will want it more. Kansas was trying to run the ball after years of being a pass-first team; honestly they were just flailing about out there while NDSU knew what it was doing. UNI will run the same spread offense that they have recruited for and have practiced for years. So UNI will score. However, NDSU is coming into this game with a game under its belts and a strong, strong desire to win and wash the 3-8 taste out of their mouths. This game means so much for them and they are well-prepared this season. Also, UNI does not have BCS athleticism on defense, though they are as good in other areas. My prediction.

Gratzek loses his helmet as he lunges into the UNI QB. The ball pops out and starts bouncing on the ground.

Just as Matt finishes driving the now dead quarterback into the ground his jersey and pads explode ala the incredible hulk. Causing the equivalent of a small explosion, most players on the field are knocked to the turf.

Matt picks up the ball and returns the fumble for a Bison touchdown.

I went on record very early, after spring practice, and predicted a much improved Bison with an 8-3 record. One of the losses I predicted was to UNI.

However, I also felt the Bison would lose to KU, and they didn't, so I am now predicting a win in Cedar wherever the hell it is.

I am not a positive as many of you that this will be a high scoring game, however. I still have concerns about the Bison offense. The OL interior, specifically the guards, are not where I thought they would be, so I have concerns about them moving the ball. I am also concerned that the WRs have not improved as much as I thought they would. In addition, UNI has to break in a new QB.

The Bison defense, on the other hand, is much improved. My guess is that the UNI defense will be ahead of their offense.

So, I am predicting a Bison win by a slim margin, something like 17-13.

We proved last year that we can score points if needed. YSU, SHSU, UNI, Wagner, ISU-r, ISU-b, we scored at least 24 points in all those games. How many more points does an offense have to score?

We have a young QB playing in front of 50,000, roll him out and get him used to the speed of the game.

I'm still leaning on my O- and D-line argument and using that to back my prediction of 20-13 NDSU. I very strongly doubt UNI's inexperienced D-line is going to be better and more athletic than KU's inexperienced D-line plus all Big-XII DE.

hey dude....it was our QB's 5th start and he's a So., IMO we did what we needed to do to win, I am quite certain once they got that lead they were going to have KU's offense try to beat them and not their Defense. We had some penalties that made our 3rd downs longer then we wanted. If we can limit the penalties and what not and finally open the playbook things will change.

Run my mouth? All I did was talk about last year's game and I even said Jose was likely not going to be able to match 308 yards on the road. Hell I doubt he will throw for over 235 yards, but I have yet to see anything that makes me think he can't have success like lakespanther said.

That is usually what our fans are referring too when talking about "dominating the conference". Add to that the back to back regular season and conference basketball championships for the mens basketball team, the women winning the conference tournament this year for basketball, our volleyball team being ranking the top 20 and going undefeted in conference play last year, and our track team winning something like 10 of the last 12 indoor and outdoor titles, we do feel as though we "own" the conference, be it right or wrong

I saw him play a couple times in high school and he looked like he was playing against JV teams. I hope he pans out for us. I've heard some rumors as to why he fell to a three and ended up FCS but I have a hard time believing any of them, especialy since I know a guy who works closely with recruiting in Iowa and he said he had never heard those things either.
