I know polls don't mean squat right now, but just want to hear what the consensus is from our fan base. I think we'll be about #20.

Anyone know if any FCS ranked teams lost this week?

#4 William and Mary lost to unranked UMass 23-27. So I would guess UMass could move up into the FCS polls, and I doubt W&M drops out complete.

Also #17 Jacksonville State beat Ole Miss in that thriller 2OT game 49-48, so they should probably move up from that 17 spot.

#1 Villanova lost to temple in a close game, 24-31

#7 Elon lost to Duke 27-41

#8 Richmond lost to Virginia 13-34

#10 South Carolina State lost to Georgia Tech 10-41

#11 Stephen F. Austin lost to Texas A&M 7-48

#14 Eastern Washington lost to Nevada 24-49

#18 Weber State lost to Boston College 20-38

#21 Eastern Illinois lost to Iowa 7-37

The rest of the ranked teams either won or had a bye week one. The fact that every one of these losses are against D1 (FBS) teams, I doubt you see really any movement in the rankings this week for D1aa (FCS).

I dunno, earning about 500 or so votes is going to be tough, a lot of teams above us in the polls (more votes but unranked) did pretty well. I think we stay unranked but get really close (where Illinois St. is right now about) and get ranked if we beat UNI on Saturday.

We should be ranked but probably lower than we deserve even though most would agree that this win makes us deserving of a high ranking.

IMO, getting blown out by an FBS team shouldn't be a reason to continue to be ranked considering it was a ridiculous pre season poll.

Is Stephen F Austin worthy of a ranking since they lost to unranked Texas A&M 48-7?

Should Elon be awarded for losing to Duke by 2 TD's? I didn't even realize Duke had a football team.

Eastern Illinois was trailing Iowa 31-7 at halftime and then they couldn't score against their 2nd stringers. Is that an accomplishment?

Richmond lost by 3 TD's to an unranked Virginia. Is that good?

This is an interesting point - my mind goes to the Fiesta Bowl last season between Boise St. and TCU, both top 5 teams (TCU might have been 6th or something). The final score was 17-10 and a lot of critics of non-BCS conferences used it as ammo saying "Look, they can't even beat each other, they don't belong here" yet they were undoubtedly two of the best teams in the nation. Score doesn't necessarily indicate the effort it implies, but then again it might. Obviously the Bison offense didn't drop any jaws but the defense might make us good enough to deserve a ranking in some peoples' eyes.

Lets just pretend you had a vote.....you are looking at your options and you realize that a team that is very well recognized nationally (NDSU at our level) went to a Big 12 school and punched them in the mouth. Giving up 3 points. You are tellling me you aren't going to rank them? Rating change alot in the early weeks. The Bison should be top 15. PERIOD. I am with Lakes 100% on this one. The coachspeak in me says it doesn't matter, and it could be the grudge the players want to keep. I like that.

But on paper, you don't go into the home of a Big 12 school and be unranked. That is a joke.

I never said they deserve to stay ranked where they are, I am just saying I dont expect them to move much since they lost to FBS. If I was a voter I would move NDSU into the top 20 forsure, but I am not a voter. I am just not gonna expect NDSU to move up far. If they do, good, if they dont, oh well, prove the voters wrong again by beating UNI. But again, the win vs UNI might not help too much either because they didnt even get votes in the polls this year. Thats just my guess. Im not sure how the voters decide on their votes. Thats why it shouldnt really matter until after week 4 or so.

We got one of two huge wins for FCS on Saturday. Our team didn't have a single good win against an FCS opponent last season. Much of the FCS world is skeptical about the Bison program based on the past couple of years. A win at UNI this week would start to change that, probably in a big way. I don't mind the disrespect if it means our team will play with a chip on their shoulders. I really don't give a d**n about the polls at this point in the season. Lets win some more games. I think that is an understatement. Their win over Ole Miss was huge and I think Ole Miss would hammer KU.

I heard on ESPN that FCS teams have beaten FBS opponents a total of 20 times since 2004. Our 4 is 20% of the total. Certainly quite a stat.

THe Bison better not expect that simply showing up means a win against UNI. I prefer the chip on the shoulder.

Probably even more wild is the fact that they haven't been ranked outside of the top 8 in the STATS/Sports Network poll since week 1 of 2011. That has to be in the 160s in terms of consecutive polls now as well. I don't know who the 2nd place team would be in terms of consecutive weeks in the top 8 (or top 10 for that matter) but I'd suspect that they aren't even in the same stratosphere.
