I'm gonna say 30-17 Kansas. I do think we will be improved this year on both sides of the ball but I think Kansas wins this game.

I just had a good hit of green and gold koolaid and will agree with 80. I believe the D will be hard hitting and will make the big plays, but will show its youthful inexperience and will give up 21 while scoring one TD. The O will show mixed results with brilliance at times and frustration at others again attributed to youth, but will rally to score 17 giving a 24-21 win to the Bison.

More important, this game will be a confidence booster and will provide the launch pad for a 'successful' season (refer to other thread). :bow:
It will be one hell of a game beaching the whale and leaving Coach Bohl looking for a new descriptor.

Can't win around here, I've come to that conclusion. Last year I was vilified by 2 posters because they didn't want to hear the truth about Mertens. Now this year we have to put up you.

OK, first off, Jose played pretty good last year. He didn't have the fumble/interception/sack problem that Mertens dealt with for 2 years. Jose played a good game against Youngstown. He's had another year to improve, and unlike Jensen, he's got game experience. As I've said before, I remember someone else who had a "Can't Miss" QB who flopped. Jose at least has proven himself capable.

I'm hoping we don't have another year of fighting about the QB. Let's see what happens before we scream for a replacement.

My #1 concern is special teams (both punting and kicking, return should be good). #2 the O (specifically the passing game). #3 the D (is this the year we finally contain a mobile QB in the spread?).

I don't think the score goes into the 30s in this game. Bison win 26-24 (we miss 2 pats).

38-14 KU. Too young and inexperienced to go into a Big 12 member's place and beat them. Secondary is too weak and a Big 12 caliber quarterback will be able to shred it regardless if he's a newcomer.

Jose makes some quick plays with his feet that will impress.

ISU scored 34 against a defense that was by all accounts, much worse last season. I will bet the farm that our D is significantly improved from this time last year. I don't think KU will have a better offense than ISU did last year either.

The thing that I think will be interesting to watch is how NDSU does with making adjustments on the D side. Last year it didn't seem we were able to do it well during the game. This first game it is going to be needed considering we don't have much to go on from this Kansas coaching staff. I also will be keeping a close eye on the CB's and Safeties. Hopefully see some tight play and a few breaks on the ball.

I don't think that McNorton will get going in the running game and that will spell doom for Mohler because Mohler will be expected to win the game on his own and right now there is no QB on the team that I believe can carry a team on his own. First of all NDSU is a lowly FCS team, and secondly the Bison were 3-8 last year. The spoiled FBS jockstraps and their fans still really believe there is a big separation between FBS and FCS........maybe for the top 40 teams in FBS there is.........

Did you see how close we played ISU last year? We were not outclassed by any stretch of the imagination. Kansas is a pseudo-Big12 football school...we aren't worried...it's not like we are playing a real B12 school like UT/OU. Plus, KU has new staff, no Meier, Briscoe, Reesing....

I don't think "worry" would be the right word. I'll put it this way...as homerish as some of the scores are, we would be as surprised as anyone if we come out and hit you guys in the chin and don't stop. We've lost a lot of identity/character in the last 2 years so we're hoping we find some attitude again...on defense anyway. Our offense has kind of always been pretty reliable, just haven't had that QB that will win us games by overcoming our defensive struggles. It'll be interesting, but I will have fun regardless!

I think we have a shot. If we limit our mistakes and our O can sustain some drives we'll have a shot. But in reality I think KU's talent and depth (compared to ours) will be what wins it in the end. I'll say 30-17 KU.

All true and if we had the 2006 or 2007 teams I'd be picking a win. Unfortunatly, number 3 is true and I don't see how things get improved that much in one year. Logically, I don't see how a poor FCS team (last year anyway) could be picked over a big 12 team. In my heart, of course, I'd like to believe they can be competitive and possibly pull one out.

I'll say this....I've never gone into a game saying NDSU had no chance to win. It's just that if you put a gun to my head and said I had to bet my house and 401K on who has the best chance of winning, it has to be KU.

Going to be a blast either way and I hope they pull out that small chance I'm talking about.
