i find that hard to believe aka b as in b s as in s...id think most every school in a bcs conference makes money on ticket sales alone let alone tv revenue donations sponsorships merchadising ect ect makes no sense...the big ten network pays out $6.5 million per school thats 11 teams right there not even counting the espn/abc and bcs bowl berth deals

Texas AD DeLoss Dodds told me earlier this year that there are nine schools in the country that turn a profit in football. His school is one of them.

If DeLoss Dodds told me the sky was blue, I'd double check.

All of these conference realignment, financial, "too many school moving up" problems can be solved with one thing: relegation!* If a team's good enough, move 'em up; If they sucked that year, move 'em down! :D

*Obviously, I know this wouldn't work that well, but I'd like to see how it'd go down.

That is one of the best and most accurate assessments I have read on moving to FBS football. For a school like NDSU moving up right now....the path would likely lead to the slaughter house rather that to fame and riches. Thanks for the post.

I agree. There were a couple of times when a move up would have been beneficial and warranted. Those times have passed.
There is no upside to a move up in this environment at this time.
