BTW, the last song they played during pre-game was "Who Are You." I laughed. No one else seemed to get it, though.

First goal was this long, weird, ballistic kick that went right through our goalie's hands. Freak thing. It was just part of the weak play by the Bison for the first few minutes. Then the Bison seemed to suck it up and started dominating for the next 2/3rds of the game. After the first two goals, there was a disallowed goal for offsides. A big chunk of the stands didn't even realize for a minute or two that the goal didn't count. Then came two more Bison goals. At that point, the Bison started to relax and maybe subbed a bit more than they should've. I mean, it kinda felt like 5-0 instead of 4-1. Fairly late in the game, a UND player went down with what looked like a bad knee injury. Either they put a play together during that time, or the Bison went to sleep, because UND scored within seconds of the re-start of play. NDSU continued to play tired and sloppy and gave up another goal before running the clock out to win.

A lot of good play, but just enough bad to keep UND in it. Also, I overheard someone say that our #1 goalie wasn't playing today with a mild injury. It sounded like she'll be back soon, though. On the big plus side, the only Bison injury I remember seeing was when a player needed a minute after getting hit in the face by the ball or a body part. She shook it off and stayed in, though.

Good crowd. The soccer team has had games in the past years with literally 40 people in attendance. I drove by one game one Sunday afternoon (the Vikes were playing at night that day) and I don't think I saw anyone in the stands, and there was a game going on. Would be nice to consistently see a few hundred come to the games.

But seriously, I totally see why we should not play UND and keep playing the Mary's or Jamestown's of the world. Who really wants big crowds and atmosphere even in small sports when we can keep alive Joe Chapman and Charles Kupchella's pissing contest.

I agree with you road. I don't think a college soccer match should be free. I can't imagine that there are many DI soccer programs that don't charge admission.

You're correct, the starting Bison goalie is out for about 2 weeks

It's doubtful that they'll ever sell tickets to the matches. I inquired about this years ago and it was explained to me that it would cost more in game management expenses then they could ever hope to recoup in ticket revenue, especially when you factor in the fact that the school would be providing free admittance for parents, etc..
