"Ready or not, here comes the recruiting season. The Bison got a verbal commitment from safety Alex Meier from Anoka High School in the Twin Cities. He appears to be the first of the 2011 recruiting class.

He's 6-foot-2 and about 200 pounds with an aggressive mentality to him. At 6-2 and if he does stay in the defensive backfield in college, you have to like his height, something that is become more important as FCS schools increasingly fall in love with the 6-4 receiver.

He had 98 tackles last season, four forced fumbles and two interceptions

Maybe, but he gets his head on the right side of the ball carrier and wraps up too. I thought he looked good.

This kid looks like he can really play. At first I thought the he had a tackling problem but it seamed like we are talking about 5 of the 50 tackles that was on the tape. I liked the angles of pursuit that this kid takes; he always seems to be in the right position to make the play.

Excellent! I like the added depth at safety and this guy seems to have a nose for the ball! Admittedly if you need a safety to make 100 tackles for you you've got some problems elsewhere on a defense but hey, a tackle's a tackle. Welcome to NDSU, Alex!

Craig Dahl.....

2004 #2 in tackles (82) 13.6 defensive PPG 285 YPG
2005 #2 in tackles (71) 13.7 defensive PPG 272 YPG
2006 #3 in tackles (61) 13.4 defensive PPG 253 YPG

Nothing wrong with those defenses.

Nice tackler. Odd that there is no film of playing balls in air downfield. Doesn't look like he has the feet to play safety at FCS level. Bison OLB candidate.

OBDB- Old Bison D Back?

funny, hopefully you can say who you are so we can perhaps trust what you say, until then, we reserve judgement.

Kid is solid player, ANOKA has talent.

True that! A lot of the Anoka kids i've seen play have that blue collar, don a hard hat, pack a lunch i'm gonna punish you on the field til you hate me mentality. Good start to the 2011 recruiting season

ISU doesn't belong on that list. ISU takes Texas leftovers at safety and corner and NDSU takes Minn leftovers.

And send them to the NFL :) Considering we have 2 safeties currently under contract.

You might want to try some Minnesota recruits if all you use are Texas leftovers considering you have won 8 games or more 1 time since 1980.

Thanks for the advice, but after your 3-8 season you might want to try some more North Dakota recruits. :)

Ya a 6-5 season and a 3-8 season and we are ready to start up a posse and hunt down some heads. We would have all been in a loony bin if we sucked for 30 years.:D :D :D :D :D :D ;)

One thing I liked is that he high fived his teammates after a lot of the tackles.
