Wow, that was cool to watch.

One of My goals: Retire early and get the North Dakota State High School Track Meet on TV again.

Amazing accomplishment - especially with Miller out of the lineup.

Note: The other runners besides Barnes averaged 1:56 splits so it's not like they were slow.

That was awesome to see...would Miller have pushed them into the top spot?

I doubt it but maybe the time could have gone down a second or two.

I doubt it but maybe the time could have gone down a second or two.

The distance might have looked big but those guys were moving so fast that the time difference between first and third as a little less than a second. 7:35.68 won it and Bismarck ran a 7:36.62.

That said, the guys on the team ran out of their minds. The runner that Miller replaced might have been a guy who ended up running much faster than his personal best. That said, I think Bismarck would have won by a healthy margin if Miller was in - the kid is a tremendous athlete and competitor.

Wonder why Esley Thorton isn't included in the Javelin?

Wonder why Esley Thorton isn't included in the Javelin?

It might have something to do with the javelin isn't in the competition. But I guess he could go and just wing a couple around outside the arena and claim first place

I thought the Decathalon had these 10 events
100 LJ SP HJ 400 110H DT PV JT 1500 looks like they through the 800m in there.

Looks like they described in the article that it is in a decathlon format. So I am not sure what is confusing you. 10 events-1 athlete per team in each event. Javelin is not one of the events they will have in their decathalon format.

I believe Bismarck took 10th

Yeah, subbing out the javelin was kind of lame even though lots of states don't do the javelin in high school. Bismarck would have done a lot better with the real decathlon list of events.
