New Entrance Song (Ideas)

This thread may not be very popular, but I feel it may be time to retire "Thuderstruck" for a while.

As much as I like the song, the tunnel walk is getting boring for me. Don't get me wrong, I love the tunnel walk, but I believe a new soundtrack would be a nice touch, at least for a few years. Now, I know this won't happen, especially as the marketing department must consider the blue-hairs, knitters and book readers, but let's have some fun.

Hey it may not be popular idea but it is June and we need something to discuss. I do disagree with you though somethings should not be messed with and Thunderstruck is one of them. Now I would like the same concept kept with a few upgrades and new towns, maybe a oil rig and things like that shown.

Now I did like the first one "GET UP GET UP GET UP DROP THE BOMBSHELL" sounds like a good pre intro little video to get the people up on their feet and get them stirred up. Maybe a little Bohl telling people they need the 12th man and to "Get up and help the Herd drop the bombshell"

Then roll into Thunderstruck after the crowd gets going.

I'm not sure Thunderstruck needs to be retired yet. The title and lyrics nicely tie into the mascot, and even though the song's around 20 years old, it's a classic that's instantly recognized. There are plenty of solid songs out there that would work, but they just don't fit as nicely as Thunderstruck. Bulls On Parade by Rage Against the Machine would work nice if it were titled Bison on Parade. Forty-six & 2 by Tool, describes the football team pretty accurately. After all out o-line was giving up so many sacks that we often were in a 2nd and 46 yards to go situations. Straight Outta Compton by NWA would work nicely if we could tweak the lyrics to read "Straight Outta Stockbridge".

Off the top of my head, I can't think of many that would be any better than Thunderstuck, so I propose a list of songs I would NOT want used for the entrance.


I Got High by Afroman or Dopeman by Eazy E - I think out recent legal problems have been publicized enough already.

If they ever wanted to change Thunderstruck, they should pick "Are You Ready" by AC/DC. I have always thought this would be a great song for the opening. I love the build up in the first 30 seconds. I only know of one team that has used this, the Arizona Diamondbacks of all teams. I'm sure there may be others others, but I have not heard of many.

Great song but its probably a bit too deamonic for the masses. Its not a midwest thing either because no team has ever used slayer for something commercial. I actually like the suggestion below for whom the bell tolls without the lyrics.

Love the idea of showing highlights, the walk is great, but I don't care for the countdown thing, do highlights with some kickass rock behind it, throw in a Scotty Miller Walker to Heckendorf "My Oh My" radio call, get the place rocking and then cut to the walk...

As much as I dislike Va. Tech, I don't think anyone can top their entrance! That is what a college football entrance is all about.

I really don't think we should change the song, it would be nice to actually build a little tradition. The biggest change that NEEDS to happen is cranking the volume up. Tweaking the video is the only other things that needs to change.
