Game 1: #1 Western Illinois vs. #4 SDSU, 10 a.m.
Game 2: #2 IPFW vs. #3 NDSU, 12:30 p.m.
Game 3: Game 1-Game 2 Losers, 3 p.m.
Game 4: G1-G2 Winners, 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 15

Game 5: G3 Winner-G4 Loser, 11 a.m.
Game 6: G4 Winner-G5 Winner, 2 p.m.
*Game 7: G6 Winner-G6 Loser, 4:30 p.m.

I'm very excited about the upcoming tournament. I have no idea what to expect as we've been a bit up and down. IPFW took 3 out of 3 against us so on paper that's not the match up we wold want. However we played great against Western who is the number one seed.

Bottom line...only the winner of the Summit will go to the dance. We nee to get hot and stay hot from here on out.

FARGO - You would have to go back to the dark ages of North Dakota State softball to find the last time a conference team beat the Bison four straight times in one season. NDSU made sure it didn’t make another visit to the history book on Friday.

The Bison took down Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne for the first time this season, although this one had more meaning. The 4-2 victory came in the first round of The Summit League Tournament at the Ellig Sports Complex.

Went to the game today 1st ever NDSU softball game for me! It was pretty cool!

Bison hanging onto a slim 1-0 lead over WIU going into the bottom of the 6th. Scary moment in the top of the 6th when WIU loaded the bases with 1 out. A strike out followed by a caught line drive to center ended the inning. Bison lead off the bottom half of the inning with a triple and a single to add another run to the lead.

Wow, those two hits were followed by another single and a bunt to load the bases. Four batters in the inning so far and all have either scored or are on base.


Two runs scored after that, and the Bison finished the shut out WIU in the 7th to win the game 4-0. The Bison will face the winner of IPFW/WIU at 2:30 this afternoon(and again at 4:30 if necessary).

It was a great ball game, with lots of great coaching by both schools. NDSU seems to have more defensive gems. I say that is the result of great coaching.

No miracles needed, just a hot Whitney Johson and they could match last year's success. Lot of veterans and leaders, just need some dominant pitching and I wouldn't be surprised.

With Whitney around for a few years and a good base of talent, good days ahead for Bison softball.
