Anyone going to Minneapolis this weekend for the Bison sweep of North Dakota in the Metrodome?

tony

Not me. Have to catch up on stuff after vacation + not that much interest = no go. I'd have rather gone and see NDSU play the Gophers.

BTW, I think this might be a first time anybody on bisonville.comhas referred to UND as North Dakota. Heck, it took me a while to figure out what was being asked.

who cares, this was scheduled on a easter weekend for a reason, to fly under the radar.
und scheduled the metrodome, got backed out on and begged ndsu to help them out. thats my guess.

no one will be at these games. (there was 100+ ndsu fans at the ndsu/minn game there last week, ill wager that there is less than that for this)

I was laughing when I was in Minneapolis and had a buddy ask me if I was coming back for the Bison vs. North Dakota game. I had to pause and think for a second to figure out who the hell he was talking about. After I realized it I laughed and said thats the nicest thing I have ever heard them called.

I like to call them North Dakota too. UND is reserved for Notre Dame; just like SDSU is San Diego State. Pecking order according to the ESPN ticker. As a side rant...the 'U' is certainly not the Gophers...it is the Hurricanes.

Yes lakes we know you don't care about North Dakota but I really enjoy supporting the baseball team and this game is more interesting to me than Lamar, New Jersey Tech, or Nebraska-Omaha and a number of other schools who have been on our schedule already. Although there has been games that I've had more interest in, I think baseball is one sport where getting a game against them is a good thing and I am glad we did it.

I'm thinking there is going to be more than the 100 Bison fans you predict are going to be there as well.

OTOH, lots of Bison fans, including me, post on ss.com but nobody is coy about their ss.com handle. Why'd you stop posting on siouxsports.com anyway? 90% of your posts are related to UND so, obviously, you have a fair amount of interest in the Sioux. Moreover, the other 10% are to announce trouble at NDSU which could also indicate interest in UND.

Another reason I'm curious: If you are genuine, then nobody else has made a more compelling argument for expanding NDSU's cable presence.

Baseball will eventually pan out for us, we just need to hang on. It is only a matter of time until UND drops the sport and Fargo regrettably loses the Redhawks. We have the stadium in place, we just need a dedicated indoor practice facility for baseball/Softball to take the next step. Once we get that and the sport is fully funded we should be able to make some strides. Right now we have other fires to put out, (BSA, football IPF) etc before we can make this a reality. Don't give up on the program yet. There is a movement within college baseball to move back the universal start date to March 1st with the college world series being over the 3rd 4th and 5th of July. This proposal would really help the sports northern teams and help level the playing field somewhat. The great thing about college baseball is if you have 3solid starters on the mound, you can do some serious damage in the postseason. It is a sport we can compete in nationally much like we have in softball.

Considering the fact that going into the four-game series with the Bison that UND led the overall series 92-69-1 in the first 162 games of the series, plus the fact that UND won seven of the last eight between the two teams until the series was put on hiatus, why should anyone expect NDSU to consistently beat UND in baseball? as mentioned, the NL is expanding. but in all honesty I think they'll eventually join the American Association, or at least see the Northern League start scheduling games in the regular season (i know they do in preseason). that's really what has to happen for the survival of everyone. RedHawks will always do well out here, but you cant help but miss the years of playing St. Paul or Sioux Falls.

dude, we drew 249 people for games with Centenary last year at Newman. we didnt draw that much more for games with a legitly good Oral Roberts team. 250 looks bad on paper, but in reality, it was a decent crowd for being a couple hundred miles away and on easter weekend and in a dump of a facility. had it been here or in Grand Forks I think at least a grand shows up, and that would match pretty much the type of attendance baseball gets for Minnesota.

aside from that, you might want to close circuit messages to tow the company line to the players, coaches, and fans who were there. i read the paper recaps, and saw reports on the games on valley news live and fox. every fan (and yes there were plenty of NDSU fans, if not more than UND fans) said they liked seeing the games and missed the series. the players all enjoyed it too. and their both scheduled to play again next year. apparently the sentiment that we not play them again, or that their isnt much interest, aint all that true.....

I couldn't agree more. Furthermore, I didn't hear any reports of riots in the Metrodome parking lot or other questionable behavior that some here on bisonville trot out to support their cause to end the rivalry period. I welcome the return of the rivalry. I see no reason why it can't be a mostly friendly rivalry. Of course, not everyone sees it that way. That's their problem.
