Maybe MSUM will drop basketball so they can start a DI hockey program that nobody will care about. Why don't they fund their major sports over there?

Totally agree with Engen's statement. Without support from the administration, you cannot expect much more than they have gotten.

After the way they handled the Tomeo situation this should come as no surprise.

Maybe they should look into forming a CO-OP with Crookston for Sports.

This says it all. I like Stu Engen and this makes me sad.

I used to cheer on MSUM. No longer. I don't care about their record. It is the AD's job to get some funding into scholarships. He ran the Tomeo ordeal like a complete GONGSHOW, and now he fires the best thing in his department.

If you have half the scholarships of the other schools, you will lose. Pretty simple. Maybe the AD should quit kissing up to the hockey people in the world and take care of business at hand. How do you think Stu liked the AD on the radio bragging about all of this hockey money when he is playing with half a deck because they can't fund scholarships. Ashamed to be a fan.

Pretty pathetic. Didn't Parcells say something about "If you want me to cook the meal, let me get the groceries."

With the lack of administrative and financial support at MSUM for athletics it will be hard for them to get a quality coach like they had in Engen.

Everyone keeps talking as if Stu was this great coach, but what did Stu actually accomplish while he was at MSUM? 19 wins with someone elses players his first year and then 500 at best? He knew of the scholarship situation befure he took the job. He also took took a four year extention four years into the job knowing that the situation wasn't going to get any better. Yet he comes out and complains after the fact. If it were really that bad, he would have left years ago. Stu may be a nice guy but he was a lackluster recruiter at best, his players didn't like him, and his practices were a disorganized mess.

Honestly, people act as if they actually know what went on when clearly they have no idea. Stu wasn't liked within the administration as well as fellow coaches at MSUM. Stu had a problem with what we would call COMMUNICATION. At what point does MSUM say we need a change? I certainly wouldn't have given him either the 2 year or 6 year extension that could have been offered.

I know Minot State doesn't have college athletics, but he said MSUM not MSU. I can understand the confussion! It's like confusing UNC with UNC Northern Colorado and North Carolina. Same quality of sports but different sides of the US. ;)

I've even had a personal conversation with the guy as well and he came off as a complete jerk.
