Crazy-low numbers. However, you have to like that, same as in football, we've still got the 2nd-highest attendance. :)

Let's average 4,000 from here on out!

3,596. Year before was right near 3,000. http://web1.ncaa.org/web_files/stats/m_basketball_RB/Reports/2009mbbattend.pdf

Shame. We should be averaging 4,000 for the year. If we bring in some quality opponents to the BSA instead of the NAIA teams it should help a bit.

Take away the NAIA games that nobody went to, and our average attendance goes up to 3,029.

I agree that we should stop scheduling the DAC teams for the sake of our attendance and RPI.

One more thing: We averaged 3,047 for conference games. Still not as good as last year, but we were not nearly as good as last year.

Put a halfway-decent Bison team in a nice new arena, and average attendance shoots up to 5,000. I guarantee it.

What do you consider half-way decent? Not smacking, curious.

How would you classify this year's Bison team.

Below halfway-decent, but somewhat better than crappy.

Sorry, just how I feel.

Next year we start the rocket ride to the Moon!!

Because of ONE game against USD at the Ralph. Otherwise they were averaging barely 1,500 at the Betty.

The Sioux women averaged 1938 a home game this year. I noticed you didn't mention the Bison women averaged 1276. Considering the Sioux basketball teams are in transition they are doing just fine compared to the playoff elgible Bison. There not packing them in in Fargo either.

Yea I did notice you didn't mention women's basketball. I guess it is tough to get people to go to winter sports in North Dakota. I did forget to mention that in the winter time we had over a quarter million people attend men's and women's hockey at UND. You didn't mention that.

And you had a quarter of a hundred people attend every other sport. But hey, you've got hockey.

They fall back on that because they have nothing else.

But not really... they werent 250,000 different people. You probably had 30,000 people attend hockey on multiple occasions.

If you are really that into comparing apples to oranges our 3-8 football team destroyed your playoff bound hockey teams average attendance....:S. by 3,000 people.

I wonder what those stats would look like reversed? Say playoff bound NDSU football team v UND hockey that wins 25% of its games.

When did they put red seats in the tin shed? Or is that from the hemorrhaging of cash?

Sadly, all current B-villers will be long gone before we would be able to see if you're right.

That 3305 numbers gotta be inflated, Oakland and SDSU(and UND) drew over 3k, I dont think a single other game really did.

I suppose an extra 4000(10700) vs UND helps alot. Avg about 2800 in the BSA, thats belivable.

I think that this means that we are going to take a big hit in the average next season without the UND home game.

Even without the UND game, attendance was only slightly down from last year at 2689 per game.

Not if the team improves. We also lose one of the games that nobody cares about vs Centenary, even though USD isn't great that name should bring a few more fans to the BSA.

Thursday night games hurt attendance. Saturday night games help.

I'm starting to think the reason why we had better attendance all those years in DII was cause of the Friday/Saturday night games. I bet if Thursday night games were changed to friday night, we'd see maybe 3,500+ per game at the BSA right now. Problem is that no one wants to go to a Thursday night game.

More power to your AD for getting the UND game and selling it well in the Fargodome, but take that one game out of the picture and NDSU, playing in a city that has at least 100,000 more people, averaged about 150 more fans per game than SDSU.

Both schools numbers are terrible in my opinion, and should be much higher. SDSU has averaged over 4000 for games as recently as the early 2000's for a D2 schedule.

Just like FB, WINNING yeilds larger crowds!! In fact, SDSU figures kinda prove that--they averaged more fans when they were a good D2 team compared to middle-of-the-pack, mid-low major D1 team--just sayin!!
