Bison women took second in the Distance Medley, and the men currently hold spots 1, 2, 4 & 5 in the Heptathlon after four events.

After two whole events, Bison women lead the field at 30 points. Closest challenger is SUU at 14 points. No men's events are final(at least not online).

edit: Bison men also take second in the Distance Medley. Oakland takes first and currently leads the field.

Keep it up, Bison. This time, Southern Utah will not be able to rely on high altitude and distance runners to catch the Bison in the men's division. The woemn are just way to dominant. They should pull away even more as the meet goes on.

A shout-out for Toni Tollefson, a local product from Lake Park-Audubon High School, with a winning high jump just a quarter inch from the conference record. She is a redshirt freshman, so lots of future potential for her!!!

I talked to her coach about her and even though it appears that she came out of no where, she had a very good high school career and was redshirted in college. My wife has the indoor record in the HJ and I thought it was safe for a while. Apparently not!

I wouldn't say that she really came out of nowhere, necessarily. Was a two-time Minnesota HJ state champ in Class A, the lowest class. While she came from a small school, her state meet performances were very strong. We will always accept "diamonds in the rough"!!

Difficult to admit when they're the only team that doesn't stick around for the awards presentation. :hide:

Go Bison...is the Bison track team the most dominant Bison team since the 80s FB teams?

I don't know track at all...do we have people that go on to a National Meet now, or was this the end of the road?

The Bison track teams have dominated their conferences more than any sport at NDSU since the 80's. From 1980 to 2007 the men lost the outdoor title only 4 times. We had a close call or 2 when I ran for Lars, but we actually won 20 of the last 22 outdoor championships. I am not aware of any other NDSU team that has matched this feat. Most of these championships were earned without having an outdoor track, so we drove to Moorhead and ran at MSU, Concordia, or a junior high.

We have some provisional qualifiers. Here they are:

Jeremy Gerditz- HJ
Weston Leutz- Hept
Christine Bruins- 800
Leslie Brost- PV
Whitney Carlson- LJ and Pent

Brost has the best shot at getting in since she is 15th on the performance list. Leutz, Gerditz, and Whitney in the LJ are top 25.
