After a period of time that seemed to take forever, we now have our first photos of the inside of the brand new Dykhouse Student Athlete Center. It's a great day to be a Jackrabbit. Enjoy.

Nice dykehouse. In Fargo many of the dikehouses have been bought out.

Hey, maybe you can help me out with this. I heard a rumor that there is a movement in Brookings to call the female sdsu sports teams the "jillrabbits"... is there any truth to this rumor??

They haven't moved in yet, the constructions isn't 100% finished. Once they are allowed to move into the rest of the facility, they will get all the artwork and decorations up.

you think Floridas national championships pre BCS mean any less than their BCS years?? nope and at least when you walk in our football office there are 8 years etched in the marble that actually mean something.

Estimated population of Fargo = 100,000
Estimated home attendance avg for Bison = 18,000

Estimated population of Brookings = 19,000
Estimated home attendance avg for Jacks = 13,000

...kinda puts things in perspective.

So you're saying that, due to all of NDSU's sell-out football games, the city of Fargo needs to build a 70,000 seat stadium to accommodate all of the fans?

Sounds like something that would be said by the school down river from us. With a retractable roof.

14 NCC Championships
1 Great West Championship
1 Beautiful Dakota Marker

(by the way, I love how you bring up NDSU's success since your were what 1 or 2 years old last time they won a national championship)

All kidding aside, NDSU does have a very storied football history and tradition and nobody can take that from them. Looking forward to NDSU getting their program back up to snuff and making Dakota territory a fierce place for FCS football.

That's all you got?

8 NCAA Division II Championships
26 NCC Championships
3 FBS wins
1 Great West Championship
51-40-5 record against SDSU

I would say those facts are a bit more impressive than what you have going for you in Brookings.

Sell-out = tickets purchased

Attendance = butts in seats

We do fine with both figures, thank you.

The numbers don't lie, but it is nice to have won the past three in a row.

Is it bad that I'm already looking forward to next November? Should be a good game.

Not bad at all! I look forward to that game every year! I would have made the trip to Brookings last year, but my daughter was born two days earlier and leaving to go down there would have probably caused some unwanted drama...haha.

Great looking facility. Not trying to smack, but it looks kind of out of place. Is their any kind of final rendering of the complete facility. ie, is this phase one? I can't really explain it but from the outside it looks like a classroom sitting next to a football field.

Get outta my head. I was thinking the same thing. Ugh, why the hell was I thinking that? Anyway, it's nice. Not, overwhelmingly amazing but it's definitely an improvement over what they had. Will it help them land a recruit who's on the fence between NDSU and SDSU? Maybe, maybe not, but it's not like they needed much help to beat us the last 3 years anyway. As nice as the building is, it still over looks CAS stadium. But once they improve that, they'll have a pretty nice football complex going. Anyway, for being named the Dykhouse, I'm severely disappointed that none those pictures had 1 dike. False advertising!

And can we just refer to it as "The House of Dykes"?

It is just phase one, the rest of the plan calls for a field house to be built on to the back of it which will house the offices of all the outdoor sports as well as a place for them to practice.

The feasibility study should be back soon --I think-- and then we will know how much it will cost to build the new stadium.

It will look better once the landscaping is done.

Part of the plan is to keep the porta-johns just for the Bison fans. It seems you all get quite a kick out of them.

It's a nice start to a long-term plan. Rebuilding the stadium and having a field house are the next things in line. Where the $$$$$$$ come from is the challenge.

No smack on this, NDSU does have some serious advantages over SDSU when it comes to being in Fargo. That isn't going to change and SDSU isn't going to move so we have to figure out a way to make it work for us.

Obviously, winning more games has dramaticly improved the interest level.

quick question for sdsu fans. did they ever think of putting the Dykhouse building on the other end of the field. I thought with the trees on the one end of the field and the dsa on the other that the stadium would look at lot better and make the tailgating lot better. maybe there isn't enough space on the opposite end of the field for the building, but nonetheless it's a good looking facility.

I really don't think that would be a good idea. Destroying something donated by a church choir could have cataclysmic-like consequences.
