Heh, the zone is not working for ORU because the Bison are hitting everything. Bison up by 15. 30-15.

tony

32-23 with 3:11 left in the half. ORU is making a run as the Bison have been popping the three right away on the last couple possession (and missing).

tony

1:09 left in the half. 33-28!

Zone is working now and NDSU isn't hitting any 3's.

Wow, ORU makes a basket with 1 second to go... NDSU 36-32.

Going to be a battle.

Yikes, ORU made the last few minutes of that half a headache....Bison need to slow their pace down and find the open 3. They're pushing a bit too much and the haste is throwing off their concentration. Lots of way short/long balls and 2 air balls.

tony

If I heard it right, NDSU has missed 13 3-pointers in the first half (made 5).

DjKyRo

ORU comes out of the gates running with 3 three-pointers in the 2nd half. the 9-0 run makes it 41-36 ORU. :banghead:

Yeah, ORU 3-3 from 3-point land and NDSU 0-4 from the FT line - that's a contrast (since then, ORU has missed a three). NDSU has taken out all the starters and put three freshmen in and that sparked a four-point run and Burich goes to the line (now a 6-point run after she makes both free throws)... down by 1 (42-43).

43-38 ORU, Bison get the ball after an ORU travel.

Janae gets fouled on a layup after a trade of possessions, Bison adapting well to the 2-1-2 zone that ORU employs.

hits the front end of the 2 FTs. and the 2nd. 43-42 ORU, blocking foul on Bison.

DjKyRo
01-02-2010, 08:17 PM
NDSU back on top with a 9-0 run of their own, 45-43 after consecutive travels on ORU. Bison really adapting well to the zone, they're feeding the ball to Janae who even just now layed it in again. At this rate Janae is going to drop 30.

Also, the radio announcer just talked about a player going into the ORU bench and it sounded like "flies into the Bison bitch." thought that was funny.

14:36 to play, 47-43 Bison.

DjKyRo

10:24 to go in the game, Bison into the bonus with ORU's 7th foul. Gotta nail those.

Bison up by 1.

Linz and Burich are just lighting it up now, the "dish from Linz to open Burich" has racked up about 12 points in the 2nd half. Another travel on ORU gives NDSU the ball with the lead, score incoming.

3 by Hannah Linz!

tony
01-02-2010, 08:32 PM
Holy cow, win or lose, Hannah Linz is the player of the game - she hits the three but her passing is OUTSTANDING.

Bison on a 9-point run... just ended on a 3 by ORU.

7:22, Bison by 6. ORU at the line.

True that tony, with the freshmen we've got playing it's going to be fun to watch this team in the next few years.

If this was FT-shooting contest, ORU would win by 30. :)

Game tied at 61, something near 4 minutes to go.

Plucker steals, Bison ball. Samuelson drives to the lane and lays it up, Bison 63-61, around 3:40 to go.

ORU nails a 3 to make it 64-63 ORU.

BISON pick up the 2 + 1 with a fadeaway jumper from Zaruba and picks up the foul! yee-haw.

2:43 to play, Zaruba headed to the line to finish off the old-fashioned 3 after a TO.

tony
01-02-2010, 08:43 PM
Bison 65, OUR 64 with 2:43 left... Bison trying to complete a 3-point play to extend the lead to 2.

DjKyRo
01-02-2010, 08:45 PM
Zaruba misses the FT. ORU chick with 16 rebounds grabs it, Bison up 65-64.

ORU hits a layup to make it 66-65.

Out of bounds on ORU, Bison bringing Janae back in.

missed 3, out of bounds to ORU. 1:43 to go.

Bison get the rebound after a missed jumper, 1:07.

ORU fouls, NDSU headed to the line for a 1 and 1. ORU with 9 fouls.

Linz at the line hits the first. tied at 66. hits the 2nd, Bison up 67-66! with :45!

ball out of bounds on NDSU, short TO then ORU. NDSU still up by 1. LET'S GO BISON!

tony

Woohoo, Bison finally hit a FT! And another 1!

Bison by 1 with :45 to go.

Here we go, a stop here could mean the game.

misses the layup! Bison recover, :28 to go!

ORU on the reach-in, Birkel to the line for the 2-shot bonus, 10.4 seconds to go.

first is GOOD! up 2.

TO ORU.

Nailing this last one could seal the game with 10 seconds left.

2nd is no good! ORU ball down 2.

BISON RECOVER THE LOOSE BALL AND THE GAME IS OVER!!! BISON WIN IT BY 2!!!

Man, that game was intense, wish I could've been there. Sort of disturbing to see a 15-point lead turn into a shot-by-shot lead like this but the ladies came through when they needed to. Nice win ladies!

I now expect all of you to get good 'n' drunk for the men's game. We need the crowd to carry this momentum into the game at 7!

Nice job to pull it out after giving up the big lead. The frosh showed up big for this game; Degagne on the boards, Burich for points and blocks, and Linz fro assists. Zaruba, despite missing free throws, also had a solid game.

Luper, despite 40 minutes of play, was held to 13 points and she only had 3 steals. I believe her previous low this season was 18.

Was a nice crowd and a great game. Glad we hit the free throws down the stretch because couldn't make any for most of the game.

Gritty, good win by the ladies. IMHO much closer than it should have been. Something I've been thinking about was proved tonight, this team has ten interchangeable parts. I loved seeing Dehoff change 5 for 5. Couldn't they do that all game long and wear out the other teams? Switch 'em up every two minutes or so? I don't think ORU's two frosh's rested the entire game, we really should have worn them down more than we did. Why does the coach wait to pull players until they are tired? The starters lacked movement on the offensive end, they basically stood around, and the backup 5 played brilliantly, driving, dishing, moving, passing. Linz was the only player who could pass the ball to the inside... So many great feeds.
This team could be (and was early tonight) very tough when hitting on all cylinders. Overall the "backups" won the game.

We knew before the season started that Linz could score, since she had about a million points in high school, but I am sure surprised at her ability to make assists. It was the difference in this game.

There is one fan I know of out there that still isn't sold on Hannah. Hopefully he'll wake up and see the light. I thought her play the past 2 games has been superb. Hope she can keep on growing.
