On local radio there are actual discussions going on whether or not the Gophers could win the Missouri Valley. The initial consensus was "yes, easily" but then they brought up the fact that they would have to play road games. Then it changed a little.

Then it actually spread to the Big Ten in general. They said that there are 4-5 teams worse than the Gophers. Given the recent history of NDSU, UNI, SIU, and SDSU beating or almost beating Iowa, Indiana, and Minnesota, it's tough to argue. Anyone remember last year when Cal Poly should have beaten Wisconsin but missed 2 extra points? How about Michigan losing at the Big House?

I think if the Gophers had 20 less scholarships than MVC teams they would win it but it wouldn't be easy. I think if UNI, NDSU, SIU, and SDSU had 20 more scholarships and were in the Big Ten, any of those teams could sneak in and grab 5th place and a Bowl Game. Of course nobody can touch the big dogs like Ohio State, Penn State, and Wisconsin but Northwestern, Minnesota, Purdue, Indiana, and the recent Michigan teams are beatable.

Completely agree. I think that top 15 FCS teams can compete consistently with middle of the pack Big-10 & Big-12 teams.

A couple points that don't get mentioned by FBS fans are the fact that FCS teams are always playing as the away teams and also FCS teams have to make an adjustment to playing against a faster team. This is hard to do when you are a QB and aren't as used to faster LB's and DB's. It takes FCS a good quarter or two get used to the speed but once they do they almost always play better in the second half.
