Man Son, I am so sorry that these classy know it alls on this site blame this aweful team on you. Truth be told, Jose is average as heck, your Defense is aweful, and you have absolutely zero WR's to throw to. Truth be told Nick, you probably are in top 5 players, no top 3 players on this team. By the way who is #6 on your defense and why doesn't he get the bashing - or no 7 who can't ever take a good angle when a RB is blasting right by him? i mean they could throw it at that cat #6 every single play but oh, I guess you get the blame for everything. Keep your head up son - its too bad they had to try and make you a scapegoat for the crap team your team has turned into. Sorry Nick. Please never pay any attention to this site because it is about as bad as your team is right now.

You are exactly right! Mertens is getting way more blame then deserved. Nick doesnt block on the punt team. Nick doesnt play defense. 9x21 passing is definitely average at best. He made a couple nice throws but Mohler was equally as inaccurate as everyone has accused Nick of being.

Without a doubt you can not blame the failure of this season on just Nick alone, the defense has terribly underachieved and special teams we don't even need to talk about. Last year though, he did have a few too many 4+ int games that hurt the team.

did you watch that SDSU game....if you did you must have been blind this last weekend, ask anyone here I've gave mertens a lot of credit, but his passes at SDSU were ridiculous many weren't even close. This last weekend there were numerous drops for mohler where the ball was placed where it should be and mertens had that happen for him as well, but Mohlers passes looked a lot better, it's hard to get in a rhythm when they don't allow you to pass much! Mohlers 1st game he's starter, let the man play and grow for next year.

So, more revisionist history. Nothing is Mertens fault. It's time to move on the future and the future is Jose Mohler. Mertens reminds me of a bad girlfriend. Something from the past that you'd like to forget about. I can't for the life of me believe that anyone would think Mertens was ever anything but a disaster for this team. :eek:

By the way, I believe offense has played enough to win, but our defense is lazy, not disciplined...we don't know the fundamentals...We need to take a hard look at re-amping our defense philosphy and it begins at coaching.

Players don't get drafted for putting up good numbers against an absolute terrible defense. Just because he was on ESPN doesn't mean the scouts thought anymore highly of him then they did before. They judge players as a whole, not simply based on one game.

Mertens was worse than average, and I'm glad you never post on here again. If you want to send him a message, find his email because he's done and good riddens. he was blamed for the lack of productin on the offensive end and his inability to complete a game winning drive. Don't tell me that last year he was great when he had an amazing supporting cast and he threw int after int to end the games in a loss. i thought we were done with the subject of mertens but if you keep bringing him up, I can keep going.

1. We don't know if Jose is even average at this point. He may be crap or the second coming of Walker.
2. The defense does suck.
3. The WR's have not played well, but it sure as heck helps when the ball hits them in stride or is in the same Zip code. Anyone who thinks Mertens is an accurate passer in the pocket needs his head examined.
4. I am too darn lazy to look up those numbers.
Let's just be accurate: Merten's was never going to be a great QB for the Bison. He should have been benched sooner. Yes, we all know there are other problems, but Merten's still needed to go. I have the upmost respect for Nick as a student and how he has handled all of this, but that does not change the facts. Let's not rewrite history like how everyone has forgotten that Bohl had some pretty good years here....

Are you sure that Bohl and the other Coaches had some pretty good years or did we have enough talent on the field to make up for the coaches mistakes?? I personally think that Walker made up for a lot of offensive play calling deficiencies and unfortunately our new QB's haven't been able to do the same thing.
