the LB crew is way to light and inexperienced for the MVC.

So what happened with the LB recruiting? We have 2 Lbs on NFL rosters and the 3rd got a shot with the Vikes and we cant recruit some adequate replacements with immediate impact knowing these three are gone to the NFL? WTF! I'm not sure what to think of this staff. I was told first hand from a "positions" coach a couple years ago that Willie Mack Garza was/is the best coach on the staff. I think we lost the best coach to TN.

If he was so good, why is there no depth at LB? A TFr starting due to the starter being injuried and a RB who has never played the position moved over after another injury? Sounds like Mack dropped the ball coordinating the recruitment of defensive players to me :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

What about DBs? A So FS and a RFr as the back up, no Jr or Sr. Backups to a Sr and Jr at CB, who are not performing particularly well, are backed up by a TFr and a JUCO. Courtney Mitchell no where to be found on the depth chart. I would argue the talent and depth at CB and FS is marginal, at best. SSs are in good shape since Belmont would be normally a Sr and Lemon a Jr with Ollman as a TFr, but basically the DB has significant lack of depth in 3 of 4 positions. Mack was the DB coach as well as the DC, looks like he dropped the ball in recruiting here also.

The DL is pretty solid and has some depth, but the rest of the D is definitely lacking in depth. Mack may have been a great coach on the practice field and perhaps even on game day, but I am not convinced he produced a very good recruiting record while here otherwise there wouldn't be so many holes and defense wouldn't be struggling so much this season.

I would argue if you can't recruit the athletes it doesn't matter how good a coach you are, your team is going to suffer the consequences due to a lack of talent if you don't recruit the players who can play in the first place. :smh: :smh: :smh: :smh:

Maybe I missed something, but how is Coach Garza to blame for our recruiting woes? The fact is that he is and was an amazing football coach and to blame our lack of depth at linebacker on him is laughable. So many things go into great recruiting in college football. It's the job of the university, the athletic department and also the football coaching staff to impress a recruit enough to want to come to Fargo. I find it interesting when a coach becomes known as a "great recruiter". I look at this as being similar to being a good salesman. Yes you can be a great salesman, but it makes you considerably better to be selling a great product. Everything that a recruit sees from a university plays into their decision, not just the actions of one man. Let's not blame our lack of depth on one man, it's a team effort here fellas.
