On Friday Afternoon at about 4:00pm, I got an official number of football season ticket holders at that time:

9,426
I would think that if we get a decent OOC home opponent next year, we'll reach 10,000 season tix regardless of how we do this season. Let's keep it up!!

That's great news! Ironically enough the fact that the conference was tough and we struggled actually worked to our advantage because people love competition. All the conference games were good. Montana and msu wilk help a ton. . The sioux would take us to a higher level.

I believe 13,000 is our cap for season tickets. 13,000 plus 4,000 students plus 550 visitor tickets plus another 500 or so players tickets leaves 1,200 or so single-game tix for each game. (Capacity being 19,287)

It would be something if we could get up to that 13k mark.....hottest tic in the area!!:D

I was really impressed with the gameday atmosphere on Saturday. Considering it was a bad game, nobody was thrilled about the outmatched Wagner game, the tailgating was off the charts, the dome was full and full of energy. Can't wait for some conference games. Hope we can figure some things out and win some of the games that alot of people don't think we can.

how high could we get if we DIDNT have the TEAMMAKERS FEE'S?

with my $1200, i'd rather have 10 tickets per game then 4!

NDSU FOOTBALL TAILGATING IS INCREDIBLE.

I had 20 people there that didnt even have tickets. People WANT to be around NDSU!!

Attendence would fall because you wouldnt be able to fund the program to aquire good recruits. Hence poor product on the field.
May as well go back to D2 if you dont want to fund the program to be competetive.

I knew a lot of people that just came to tailgate and then had to leave due to the '30minutes prior' ruling...

Unless you could make up the 2,000,000 in TM revenue. Now, of course everyone in the nation has prioritized seating...

Exactly!!! So how do you do that??? Raise ticket prices? Student fees? etc Either way the money is going to HAVE to come from some where if you want to play at this level.

Are you sure they just don't want an excuse to get drunker a bit earlier in the day than usual?

Just a gut feeling but if we end up with a crackdown on tailgating, the "we just want to party, screw the game" crowd are going to be the cause.

Tony I think you hit the nail on the head. If people were really that interested in the BISON they would have gotten tickets. I know for a fact that there were many tickets that could have been gotten if people really wanted to go to the game.

i have no problem with people showing up just to tailgate. a lot of times that's their first introduction into the program. Come party with friends, have fun. eventually they'll get curious and check out a game. the more people that show up for tailgating, the better the chances that the Fargodome will be filled.

Great point! Rep to you as soon as I get done posting!

That said, I wasn't arguing for a rule that says that people should have to have a ticket to tailgate - but there is no doubt that having people showing up just to drink could lead to problems down the road if people start thinking of Bison football games as We Fest without the music.

Besides the party crowd, there are families out there where some people go to the game and others don't.

Well you're gonna have MAJOR problems on Oct 3 *(homecoming)* and OCT 10th -=-- UNI "biggest game ever in fargodome"

cuz i guarantee you now, both games are sold out, and there will be THOUSANDS of people in the parking lots WITHOUT tickets, because they cant get tickets.

so are the fargo pd, going to escort 1000+ people out of there, when those people A) cant get a ticket if they even wanted to

B) wont be able to drive out for obvious reasons.

C) people want to sit and watch the game on tv or listen to radio in the lots.

D)...... its gonna be interesting!!

A. That's why there is alcohol allowed and non-alcohol lots.
B. Why all the shock about drinking alcohol before and after games. Most major universities allow it and in many places to a greater degree than NDSU allows. People just showing up to drink........well if they want to party with Bison Nation maybe someday they will purchase tickets and attend a game. Sounds like a marketing deal that costs no money.

No idea what you mean by A. Edit: AH, is it because I said some families tailgate together even if they don't all have tickets? I just added that as an example of non-ticket-holding tailgaters who are probably pretty low risks to cause problems even though I'd still expect that they might enjoy a beer or two.

As for B., did those major universities have to fight media firestorms over their decision to allow tailgating like NDSU did? All it would take is one angry drunk throwing punches or somebody getting sent to the hospital with a case of alcohol poisoning, and every paper and TV station in the state would be demanding that the National Guard be sent to Fargo with live ammo and shoot-on-sight orders (I'm only exaggerating slightly here) :).

Hell let's do what they do down at Cowboy stadium, they offer a "party" ticket that costs $29. But in all honesty my dad said that they had roughly 20 people at our spot and only him and a client went it. The rest didn't even care to go. He also said that more people were proly tailgating then there where in the dome. Is this true?

Not even close! I was surprised in a good way in the number of fans that showed up for the Wagner game.

Now this concept deserves its own thread.

Charge and trade places in the dome in a Outdoor video section.
Bison could have a section of say 4000 seats with 20,000 outdoor sharing it.

That would bring the attendance to 35,000 for the game.

It would have to be a pretty impresive video board with lots of beer.

Might be better than in the dome.

Flat screen with a digital antenna and you have your own. I know we did on Sat and had a good time watching the 'other' kind of D1 football.
