Its going to be tough. Our offense has shown it can consistently move the ball. I'm still not confident in our defense. OK, our defense SUCKS!!!!!

I'm afraid it will be another shoot-out, like SHSU.

onside kicks! I'm telling you, if we start onside kicking it we are going to be better off. We'll have a shot at getting the ball back and if we don't they'll score faster and it will put our offense back on the field.

The only way to beat SIU is to have long sustained drives that produce points of some kind nearly every time. Time of possession, special teams, field position...and the running game must work...obviously.

Would it be too much to ask for a few 3 & outs? A couple of SIU turnovers that we score off of would be a difference-maker.

We haven't played a more difficult road game than this in a while.

I really dont see either defense containing anyone.

35-42. The winner has the most points.

A turnover will dictate the game.

NDSU gets PWNED + season over = 50%
NDSU loses squeeker + season over = 30%
NDSU wins squeeker + season lives to die another day = 20%
NDSU suddenly becomes good and dominates = 0%

...sad but true.

I think it comes down to if we early 3 and outs or not. Our offense neads to give the coaches time to coach up the young defense and people playing different positions after we see what new they will be throwing at us that isn't on tape. If we can have some sustained offensive drives early then we have a chance to win.

27 NDSU 24 SIU I have to drink a little cool aid to get to that though.

44-41 Bison. A shootout - I think defense will be improved but will struggle against SIU's offensive attack, which is definitely a heavier hitter than SHSU or Wagner. Offense (mostly Paschall) will continue to impress.

This could be a shoot out next Saturday at SIU. Paschall and SIU's Deji Karim could each rush for 200 yards. This is going to be a track meet, hopefully a few defenders can get in the way and act as speed bumps.

Lennon will make getting 100 yards tough for PP. Grinding out yards on the ground, and a controlled-passing game is what's needed against SIU. NDSU must minimize 3rd and long situations to win, because SIU will be bringing heat all day.

Just for the record, I think we'll be able to score at least 4-5 touchdowns on SIU, cause their defense is not really good, not as bad as ours, but still not really good. But I think with SIU's offensive power, they'll be able to score at will on us...

If SIU has any resemblence of their offense from last year then I think we are in trouble. If that is true then the only way we stay in the game is matching them score for score, not making any critical mistakes-turn overs and taking advantage of any turn overs on their part.

I agree a lot with this. I don't think we can afford to get behind early as well. SIU has outscored it's opponents 52-17 in the first half. A lot of those points were put up against a DII school, but our starts that I recall haven't been too great. Yeah we beat up on Wagner in the 2nd quarter, but we should have beat up on them earlier. I want to see us up early, like they were on us last year at the dome.

Nice breakdown from The Southern

http://www.thesouthern.com/article_b3263f14-aa57-11de-8ad2-001cc4c002e0.html

Who has the advantage?

Offense: NDSU

SIU put up one of the best all-purpose yards totals in school history during last week's 59-7 win over Southwest Baptist. Deji Karim looks in tune with the offense. Chris Dieker looks in late-season form. NDSU could have a big advantage up front with the football, and has been great in its losses. Understand this: The Bison allowed 620 yards against Sam Houston State, and lost 48-45 on a 24-yard field goal in the final 30 seconds.

Defense: SIU

Well, for one, NDSU gave up 620 yards to Sam Houston State. The other feather in the Salukis' cap is the expected return of ILB Brandin Jordan, who is, perhaps, SIU's best defensive player. SIU has been tremendous against the run this season, and has been able to put pressure on every passer it's faced so far. Don't expect the Bison to be much different, even considering the nearly 50-pound advantage per player up front.

Intangibles: SIU

Revenge is a dish best served cold, and the Salukis didn't forget about last year's debacle in Fargo, N.D. SIU led the Bison 20-0 before allowing a late score near the end of the first half. NDSU added 28 more unanswered points and won going away. This time, the Salukis want to defend the home turf, want to start off the league season 1-0, and have the athletes to do it.
