Three Mud Bowl vids. It's not just about highlights...it's the atmosphere of football in extreme elements, the spirit of Bison football, and playing like champions in a hostile environment...and oh yes, everyone playing their guts out on every play. This is my little salute to the '94 Bison...they wore the jersey...got mud on it...got blood on it...and became champions. There have been many great Bison teams that didn't win a national title that were champions. 2006 & 2007, to me, fit into that category. Bison Pride will never go away.

My favorite play in this game came, I believe, in the third quarter. I think it was RB Jason Miller taking a Hyland pitch to the near sideline. He got stopped for a loss of one, but the highlight was the split end (Carlson? who I think just got back from a knee injury) absolutely destroying the middle linebacker. The LB never saw the block coming and Carlson lit him up something fierce. Not sure if CA got it in the highlights, but it was awesome.

This may be my favorite Bison game of all time. My roommate and I were watching it in our apartment and we were both going nuts. From about the 3rd quarter on he put "Thunderstruck" on repeat and we watched the rest of the game listening to that song. I remember the TV guys were going nuts because they had bought 4 hours of air time and the game was in serious jeopardy of going longer than that. Luckily, we got to see the end. :)

I'll try to find the play and put it on the next part.

OK, the statute of limitations is only 7 years on posession of a controlled substance. Please regale us with the ENTIRE story of what you guys were doing while watching the game!

That's the best video you have done. I like how you have 3 longer video's so it's just like watching a compressed game. Even though I knew what happened I was still getting nervous at the end!

Thanks gabe. Before I started this project I wondered how I could get ten minutes of highlights out of it...but after I started, I had a heckuva time deciding what to leave out.

This was a great game. I've been haunted for many years that I wasn't at the game and ended up watching it on TV. I had been invited by my girlfriend's (at the time, at least) family to take a limo out to Mahnomen that afternoon, all expenses paid. We were drinking pretty hard on the way and then I realized too late what I was really missing so we ended up pulling over to a small town bar and watching the game. It was one of only a few games that I missed back then.

As good as that game was, the one that still sticks out to me is the 1990 playoff game with Pitt State in Fargo. CA, you gotta get that one up. If it is an option, you should try to show every play. Hopefully, that would compress to less than 30 minutes.

I've been trying to find someone who will send me that video. Think I'll put up a thread to give it a real shot. That rivalry with Pitt was unbelievable. Wow.

I hope someone has it....I don't think I've ever watched that game..I was in high school and somehow I missed it.

CaBisonFan, what happened to these links? I told a friend/former football player that played in this game that it was on Youtube but I can't seem to find it.

Yup...seems most offensive linemen have to have a huge gut...seriously. Plenty of fat being hauled around.

One of my favorite games of all time. Thanks for doing that as we seem to get old fast as that was my freshman year at SU and I didn't remember much of that game anymore.

I just put up 20 minutes of the championship celebration. Forgive the quality. I captured it with a so-so software program from the online streaming. Had to split it in two because of the 10-minute limit.

Reminder...you can download these vids by getting Real Player (download from their website for free)...then download an flv player from cnet.com...and you've got it. They're both free. Real Player will allow you to download a lot of videos online. Try to avoid installing their not-so-friendly extras.

Is the celebration on the DVD of the game?

And...remember to click on 'Browse Videos' near the top of the youtube page. It'll show you the vids that I have there.

The Mud Bowl was a playoff game at Pitt State in 1994 I believe. We lost the next game I think. Can someone else help with that?

According to some players and others close to the program, recruiting had dropped off...the DII restrictions on the number of schollies began to show. There were a LOT of really good players on this team...but the deck wasn't quite at loaded. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Pitt had become a huge playoff rival. One of the epic games was 1990...semi finals against Pitt...Simdorn, Satter & Co. beat them at home.

Do I even have the right year? Shit...it sucks getting old.

CA you r correct on those years. We ended up losing to UND in the next round. We had played Pitt State in two legendary playoff games in the previous three years and the the following year we lost 9-7 in the quarters. In all we played them four out of five years in the playoffs and all the games were unbelievable games with two going to OT.

we won in 1994 against pitt- lost the next round

kelly artz had 4-5 key catches in the slop- kept his hands dry under my jersey the entire game-it rained an inch or two during the game and something like 4-5 inches before the game...i thought gumbo was bad....their red dirt was horrible, there wasnt any grass to begin with... the refs let us keep moving our feet a little in our stance or we would lose our damn shoes in the mud- one game i will never forget
