It is obvious the coaches will be preaching defense and I think they should make it a point of emphasis to hold Wagner nothing. Spare me the stuff about Wagner being bad, we have to start somewhere. I want to see the defense flying around and making plays.

I also think this game is big for DJ, he is going to get some opportunities and I will be interested in seeing just what he has. No doubt Voit also needs to be worked in, the guy makes about one huge play a game.

Every QB should get some work in, hopefully Mertens can build on his second half against SHSU with a very crisp start.

we win 54-17... i think we come out and pound them, maybe they'll score some points on us but Bohl will not call off the dogs for most of game and wants to try and make a statement. They'll want to pummel Wagner.

I could care less about Wagner. We all know how that's going to turn out. No disrespect intended towards Wagner, but they are being brought in as a cupcake. What needs to happen is that this team has 2 weeks to improve an enormous amount to keep the SIU game respectable. If these guys give up, we might as well pack the whole season in, because a blowout loss against SIU and our season is toast. We don't need to win that game, we just need to show a ton of improvement and keep it close. We aren't going to make the playoffs this year, but we need to end the year on a good note to give us momentum next year. Something we haven't done in over 2 years.

A win...anything positive right now will be good for the team.

Who CARES about Wagner. The Bison can absolutely look towards SIU and that is the game we need to be worried about right now after what SHSU did to our defense. Having the team at home will be nice for a change and seeing some younger players get game time will be nice. I am sure many fans are looking forward to having a few beers in the tailgate lots. But as for a prediction for Wag, it could be 35-7 or 80-0. Which would we prefer? Neither one means a thing about where this team is at.

I'm not sure this team can look past anyone, including Wagner. :hide:

You do remember the game against Indiana State last year don't you? They were like a high school team with 18 true freshman starters and they walked all over the Bison in the first half :banghead:

FWIW

I just discovered the teams we play this week are from the same conference. Seems like they are trying to raise the profile of their conference. Good luck this week! These kind of games scare the crap out of me!

Hallstrom had a good observation on WDAY radio's "Prime Time Sports" last night: Wagner is a "no win" game for NDSU. Win big, and it's no big deal since that is supposed to happen. Lose or have a close game, and huge question marks remain. IMO, the only way that this will be a telling game is if it is close. A blow-out tells us nothing about this team.

Okay, the Texas gang has finally gotten it out of their system. Tell us about Wagner. Have the Bison played them before? Where are they located? What conference are they in? Plus any other info. you may have. Thanks
(I could look it up but net time is really limited.)

Wagner is on Staten Island which is south of Manhattan and SW of Brooklyn. The island is twice as large as Manhattan - a bridge connects it to Brooklyn and a ferry runs from Manhattan - takes you right by the Statue of Liberty.

They're in the Northeast Conference (the NEC). Nickname is the Seahawks and their colors are green and white.

I gotta think NDSU should roll but that really depends on whether the defense starts clicking.

If Wagner runs the Techmo Offense* that SHSU ran we may be in trouble. If they try to run the ball, we'll lock that down asap.

*Techmo Offense - as in referring to the popular Nintendo games Techmo Bowl and Techmo Super Bowl, where often the most effective offense was to drop back to pass and heave a long bomb down field where your receiver would catch it 90% of the time.

My prediction was so off last week that I'm not even going to try. I just want to see us get a 1 in the win column. Planning on tailgating in the grass and gonna make some noise with 18,000 other Bison fans in the FFD. Go Bison !!!

gotts
09-19-2009, 01:37 AM
The long wait for tailgating will be over, good times had by all, bad times had by those who choose to sit, and the Bison will be victorious.

I got the Bison 45-17 in this one.

This team has to earn a continuos standing crowd. I could see that happening with a run through the Valley and a playoff birth.

they said his eyes were not responding (whatever that means) so hopefully he just got knocked out. Scary stuff.

Severe concussion. He was completely out of it on the field, but he started responding to EMTs in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. I doubt he'll be returning with the team because the docs will be concerned with swelling in the brain and will have nurses checking him every 15 minutes or so for the next day or two.

I think it means his pupils weren't constricting when they flashed a penlight in them. It can be a very bad sign of brain or optic injury if it continues. This case doesn't sound quite that bad.
