I have a question about the webcast for Saturday's game. If I purchase it from GoBison.com, will the webcast be the Southland TV feed?? Also, I'm wondering if any Bearkat fans are lurking on here, if we're all gonna be watching that same feed, is the Southland TV feed a decent quality webcast??

Thanks in advance.

It will be the Southland feed, hopefully it can compare to the Iowa State feed in terms of quality.

That was the best Web cast, quality-wise I have ever experienced.

Yep, we had the game on our 52 inch TV and it was just about like I was watching a game on regular TV. Not even one glitch all game.

There you are !!! - Could you please tell me what kind of cord and how you hook up the computer to the TV screen. Good Greif went to Radio Shack and they did'nt have a clue ?? I will have to run the cord from one room to another, sooo, can I monitor both screens to hook up and come back to if i need to reboot or something, without hooking and un-hooking cables etc. THANX for any input or knowledge on this - PS - could make some extra money training Radio Shack employee's.

Let's try a primer on this.

Here are the possible connections you might be using to connect your computer to your TV in decreasing order of quality.

HDMI:

DVI:

Mini-DVI:

VGA:

Component RCA:

S-Video:

Depending on your video card, you may need a dongle that should have come with it. This dongle takes a proprietary connection on your video card(looks like an S-Video port) and splits it into multiple connections. There are also versions that go from DVI to component RCA(ATI video cards) and HDMI to component RCA(Sony PS2/3). HDMI and DVI are compatible, so you can buy cables that convert one to the other at places like Best Buy or Radio Shack.

Look on the back of your computer or laptop and on the back(or front) of your TV. Find a pair of ports that match or are compatible. That will let you know which cable(s) you need to buy. Also remember that there are maximum cable lengths for each type. Some types of connections are designed for short distances while others can go longer. Also, cost is a factor. Long RCA cables are cheap, while long DVI and HDMI cables get very expensive.

For sound, you generally are converting a 1/8" stereo phono jack(like a headphone jack) to a pair of RCA jacks. Converters come in two basic types. The first is a small unit that makes the conversion immediately. You then need a standard male/male stereo RCA cable to make the run from your computer to TV. The second type is a cable with a male 1/8" jack on one end and two RCA jacks in the other. If the cable isn't long enough on its own, you will need an extension. The two types look like this:

The only connection that combines video and audio in a single cable is HDMI. And even then it's not a sure bet it will work. In all other cases you will need a seperate audio connection like the above.

If you need more info, just ask your question and I'll do my best to answer. Try to include which connections you're dealing with; it will make things easier.

Do you have an HDTV? If you do, the easiest way is just the regular VGA(monitor) cable. Otherwise, some computers have S-video or RCA video out, and I guess now some come with HDMI or component. There should be a 15pin trapezoidal connector on the back of the TV if it has a VGA port. It might also have the possibility of a DVI port(especially if its an older HDTV), which can be used the same as an HDMI or VGA port with an adapter. Then from there, its just configuring your computer to display on your TV. I personally have a desktop computer hooked up to my LCDtv in my living room and I love it. Use it all the time for justin.tv streams, etc.

Edit: Damn, now there ya go...hes got all the pictures even! haha

Hell yes, Radio Shack guys will be able to help you out. They are all over this kind of stuff. They spend all thier time worrying about electronic issues and no time worrying about getting laid.....:D

Sorry if I double up on someone else's info. It's always the away team's feed, from my experience. The quality is a crap shoot. Some people use the local radio for play by play, but there's usually a delay. So if you can stand their announcers, I suggest using their audio also. Regardless, it's worth it.
