Just watched the CU vs. CSU lastnight, as many of you probably did. They talked about CU's stadium that was from 1924, CSU's cannon, the Boot (CSU vs. Wyo), and ofcourse both mascots.

So enlighten me on NDSU tradition. We started football in 1894, we got rid of Dacotah, so what do we have. We have had football since lots of these programs.

We have the intangible factor called Bison Pride. Anyone who has ever worn the uniform knows what it is but really can't describe it. Tradition doesn't necessarily mean something "old."

As the resident pie in the sky advocate...I'd like to eventually see an outdoor stadium built.

I'd like to have it called Erhardt Stadium...and the actual field called Dacotah Field. It could happen with the dome. The Fargo Dome is a lame name.

Huge championship banners hanging from the ceiling.

Each fall have an 'If You Wore the Jersey' day...where every player that comes puts on their old jersey and is recognized at halftime....or....bring back a couple of teams each year.

More work could be done in this area.

At Pauley Pavilion the named the court after John Wooden and put his name (and wife's) name on the floor. It's a recognition of the great tradition...but still looking forward.

Great post 4mcrue.

Yes it has been described quite perfectly before http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTx__3AIusw. About 4 minutes in. If that doesn't give you goosebumps..............

Tradition and expectations are at a different level at NDSU. Take a look at this link to the message board at SHSU. It shows the difference in our tradition and expectations of a win and a program that well has not found the coolaid.
