View Full Version : Starting the season with two road games...
When is the last time that happened?
Hint: the last time we opened the season on the road was 1987... so it's been a while.

And against quality opponents... The clones are no Austin Peay or Concordia-St. Paul

Last year the first two games gave us a feeling that we were better than we ended up being. This year may have the opposite affect. I think it will be an alright season.
The question then becomes is "alright" acceptable given the NDSU Tradition?

Ya gotta go even farther back... we played SDSU at home the second game in 1987.

Is it a bit of a disadvantage? Yes, but if we can snatch a win from SHSU next week, I think the team will get a lot of positive reps. We pla game against ISU, and I for one think a lot of the question marks of the team were positively answered.
i'm thinking 7-4 this year with a shot at playoff contention.

Aaahhh, trusty media guide... You never let me down...
1985 we played at Northern Michigan and Cal-Poly to start the year. Won 26-10 and lost 29-35.
Guess how that season ended??

It was a transition year, with a new QB, a new head coach, and a rash of injuries. They went something like 6-5...and pulled it together to beat the shit out of the Sioux. Probably could have made a playoff run at that point in the year.
If we can win next weekend...1-1 won't look too bad. 2-2 in a few weeks will look OK...not great. 3-1 would look great.
